Question about Whirlpool LER4634J Electric Dryer

Whirlpool Dryer Problems

I have a Whirlpool Dryer (I'll have to get the model number if it's necessary). It stopped heating and then quit all together. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it worked just fine. It heated and worked for about 1 day. Then it quit again and wouldn't do anything. I checked the power source and it is getting appropriate power. What else could be the problem? Thank you.

No heat

Try testing the voltage across both fuses. The time you swapped fuses, and the motor ran without heat indicates to me that one of your hot leads is not getting voltage. On a three wire system, you should have two 110v leads and a common. Make sure that the cord is connected properly, and the same for the receptacle that you plug into. Test the receptacle as well for proper voltage and a good common ground.
Hope that this helps. Please repost if necessary.....Operators are standing by......!

Dryer wont start

Okay...your dryer is one of the more easier dryers to access the heating circuits. All you have to do is unplug the dryer and remove the back panel. The heating circuits will be on the right hand side (as viewed from the rear). The heating element is inserted inside the heater box with the thermal cut-out (TCO) mounted on the top portion of the heat box. The hi-limit thermostat will be located adjacent to the heating element ceramic terminals. You mentioned a thermal fuse also. It is a small white plastic (sometimes gray) looking component mounted on the blower fan housing on the lower left hand side of the dryer (as viewed from the rear).

If the dryer does not run at all, the THERMAL FUSE is a good diagnosis on your part.

If the dryer runs, but does not heat, the THERMAL CUT-OUT, heating element or hi-limit thermostat are your likely problems.

The following link provides you with some necessary guidelines on how to troubleshoot if needed:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385301-thorough_dryer_advice

Most dryer problems are related to overheating caused by poor ventilation, or overloading. If you need a drawing of your dryer heat components you can reference searspartsdirect.com. Just type in the model number you provided (include the prefix "110", this identifies the manufacturer as Whirlpool). The number should be written as follows: 110.66801691. Look under the "Bulkhead" heading for an exploded view diagram of your dryer. The Thermal Fuse is listed as item 59 (part #3392519). I hope you find this information helpful. Let me know if you have any questions.

How old is the dryer? The heating element is probably no good.
It's possible to fix it yourself. Make sure it's unplugged before you start. You might want to check a parts store, or online to see what the heating element would cost. when this goes bad, the dryer will still spin, and the heat stops instantly. It's a little tricky taking the panels off, but there's not too much to a dryer. An electric motor that powers a belt to make it spin, the heating element, metal sides, top and bottom. Good Luck!
