Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Please can you help me. I bought your ScanDisk USB 8ghz device today and intend to use it solely with Windows ReadyBoost to improve performance. When I plug it in, I'm taken to your website to be offered game downloads and a chance to give you my email, which I did. Please can you tell me how to use it with Windows ReadyBoost, before I return it on Monday from where I bought it. Thankyou.

How to speed up Windows 7 or Vista responsiveness with a USB memory stick in a...

A great feature that isn't commonly known is ReadyBoost. It was introduced in Vista and is available in Windows 7 as well. Basically it increases the amount of memory you have by using your memory stick. You can use more then one usb/thumb drive and the bigger they are the better.

Step 1: Just insert your USB drive into a usb port.

Step 2: Click Start > Computer

Step 3: Right click the USB memory stick you plugged in and choose Properties. Click the ReadyBoost tab then choose Use this device. Choose how much space you would like to allocate and that's it!

Enjoy the boost!

Computer will not boot.

Form the info you provided, you have a RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) disk array. RAID 0 (striped disks) distributes data across several disks in a way that gives improved speed and full capacity, but all data on all disks will be lost if any one disk fails. Apparently Diagnostics has determined that “Drive 2” is defective. You will have to replace the defective hard drive and reload the Windows operating system.

Loooong boot time

A Blinking Amber or Yellow power button means that the power supply is receiving power from the source but is unable to properly distribute it to the components. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. Just to make sure that nothing else is causing the problem, remove any PCI cards like modem, video card, sound card, etc... Remove the memory modules and disconnect cables to CD/DVD drives. Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged.

I want to know what INF files are. I have an aspire 3100 and bought it solely for webcamming my grandchildren and every time I TRY TO INSTALL IT SAYS IT CAN'T FIND INT INF FILES. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE...

INF files are simply instructions that tell the kernel (windows) how to use a specific device.
your problem is that you need to check device manager for any problems that it reports. look for any yellow exclamation points or red X's. Try re-installing the webcam drivers.

Try this:

START/ right click Computer goto Manage/ click Services

Here are the services I have stopped and disabled. You can right click each service and goto properties to disable them.

readyboost
superfetch
print spooler - must be re-enabled and started if you use a printer
server
computer browser
secondary logon
security center
windows error reporting
windows search
windows firewall - must be re-enabled and started to use windows firewall

Hope that works, and please rate my response if it was helpful.

Flash drive no longer can support readyboost

Hi

I need a bit more info to properly respond to your query regarding Microsoft ReadyBoast feature in Windows Vista and 2008 Server.

1. Has this particular Flash disk ever work?
2. How much free space is on the flash disk?
3. Is the Flash disk connect to an onboad port or a cabled port?
4. If this is a new device, does it support USB 2.0? What is the transfer spec from the manufacture?

Regards
Mike
