The car had existing cables in it and i tried hooking up the amp to a sub i know works. The amp doesn't light up or anything and the sub doesnt put sound. What's wrong?

Those existing cables are suspect. Start by getting power to your amp, then connect other wires, regardless of color code, to the sub. Beware of wires that look good but really are shorted somewhere. You may have to label each wire as you go along to identify its real function. You may even have to run some new wires to replace existing ones.

Replace stolen radio thief cut wires in dash need color codes for speakers and power sources for a 1990 honda civic

I have had the same make model and year car that had different color wires, and it seems weird like they ran out of wire making the car but give this a try. Use a voltage meter to check for power to be safe.

I have a JBL e8lf-18b849-ba amp from an old lincoln. I need to know how to hook up the wires and what the color codes on the factory harnesses mean. Any help/

Usually the white stripes are positive. To be totally safe, what you may want to do is check to see if there is a wiring harness from a nearby car audio shop because that will SAFELY fix your problems. Another way to figure this our is to undo ALL of the speaker wires in the vehicle. Start out with 2 of the same colored wires(one solid and one striped) and connect them with their respective wires from which you disconnected them. Whichever speaker plays sound then that will be the speaker's wires that you are playing with.

How to connect an LOC to e39 1997 radio cassette

Hello randon_dicks,

The inputs to the LOC should be tapped from your rear speakers. If you have the color code of the wiring from either the cassette player or from the vehicle wiring, tap the wires behind the dash. If you do not have the color code, you can tap directly from the speakers. In either case, it's best to use good quality twisted pair wire and keep the wires as short as possible. Likewise, use good quality RCA cables from the LOC output to your amp location.

Hope this helps.

Which wires do i splice my output converter into ? Obviosly rear , left and right. Which color wires are they ? Thanx

Hello russhagm,

OEM color codes are different for each model and year of vehicle.

I'd recommend that you search on www.modifiedlife.com for the appropriate color code for your specific vehicle. For example, the wiring color code shown here is for a '97 Toyota Camry and you would use the Black, Yellow, Red and White wires.

Hope this helps.

I have a fujitsu am/fm/cd/ tape player out of a 93 camry and would like to put it in a 95 camry but the color code for the wiring doesn't match and thats what I need , can you help Thanks John

Hello jrhauber,

The '93 and '95 Camry have identical color codes. Likewise, the vehicle harness connectors are the same.

Car Radio Constant 12V+ Wire: Blue/Yellow
Car Radio Ignition Switched 12V+ Wire: Gray
Car Radio Ground Wire: Brown
Car Stereo Illumination Wire: Green
Car Stereo Dimmer Wire: N/A
Car Stereo Antenna Trigger Wire: Black/Red
Car Stereo Amplifier Trigger Wire: N/A
Left Front Speaker Wire (+): Pink
Left Front Speaker Wire (-): Purple
Right Front Speaker Wire (+): Light Green
Right Front Speaker Wire (-): Blue
Left Rear Speaker Wire (+): Black
Left Rear Speaker Wire (-): Yellow
Right Rear Speaker Wire (+): Red
Right Rear Speaker Wire (-): White

You can purchase an aftermarket wiring harness that plugs into the OEM radio. The part number you need for a 1995 Camry is Metra 71-1761 available here for $9.99.

Hope this helps.
