Hello,
the SSID is the name of a wireless network so it is easier to recognize. If you want to make things easy for you to connect to your wireless home network to access the internet with your DS Lite, go to your router configuration. Make sure that the SSID is set to be broadcast or visible. Make the SSID an easy name that you will remember, yet that is not too personal since everyone will be able to see it.
Then start your Nintendo DS and go to the wireless connection configuration. It will start looking for broadcast SSID and will eventually find the one of your network and list it. Select it, enter the WEP when prompted and save the connection.
You should be able to enjoy your internet connection from the DS after that.
Let me know if you encounter any issue.
Regards,

What is SSID and Wep Key?

SSID is the name of the wireless network that you are trying to connect to. WEP is a type of encryption that only allows people that know the WEP passphrase to get on with that wireless connection.

Cant seem to connect to WFC for a dsi game

Hi gabrielsa544,

Welcome to Fixya. Nintendo Dsi/DS/Ds XL connects to the internet using wireless connection. You need to know the settings of your router. I've listed below the steps on how you will access the router and to obtain the information needed for you to be connected.

How to access the Router:

To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.1.1, the Default username is blank and the password is admin. Go to the Wireless Tab check you Network Name or SSID. On the Security Mode you can check the security if you're using either WEP or WPA. Then you need to remember the Netowrk Key you can also personalize your Network Key. The Network Key serves as a password on your network to make it secure. Then Save the settings

Take Note of the SSID and the Network Key

Now that we already know the setting of the router then its now time to connect the Dsi to the network.

1. Go to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings of the Game

2. Search for an Access Point (SSID)

3. Select your Network (SSID), If you have an open network, just click "OK" and it should work just fine! If it's a Red Padlock, it'll prompt you for a Password or Network Key. This is the reson why we access the router.

4. Test the Connection

Thanks for using Fixya.

Heyy guys just wanting to hook my DS lite to the wifi but i need to add it to the network with the mac adress and whats a wep key

> WEP

Wired Equivalent Protocol is a method of encrypting "over-the-airwaves" transmission of data from one wireless device (your DS-LITE) to another wireless device (your router).

You need to connect a computer to the router, and then configure the "wireless networking" part of your router:
* set an SSID (the name of your network)
* set an encryption level (use 'WPA', not 'WEP')
* set a password

Enter the SSID and the password onto your DS-LITE, to make the wireless connection.

Hi im tying to get wireless connection for my ds/club penguin. it says i need a ssid and wep key well i put that info all in and taped the test connection button but it says confirm ssid or move within...

Is your wireless router set up using WEP security? Most routers will use WPA2 by default. DS cannot connect to a WPA2 router.
Check the router and set it to WEP security to enable the DS to connect.

Whats an ssid and a wep key

SSID is the actual name of your device. You can locate it either on the device itself or in the box your device comes in. My wifi (portable hotspot from sprint) is Overdrive-75E for example. A WEP key is the password needed for you to connect (a secure connection). You can usually find it also on the device itself or in the box it came in.

Wep key

Try admin for the username and motorola for the password.  The default SSID is Motorola.  Here is the pdf with all of this info.
