Question about Samsung HLR5667W 56" Rear Projection HDTV

Samsung 56 HLR566 Vertical Green Lines

I have a 56 Samsung HRL566. Two days ago we had a powerful thunderstorm. The sound went completely out. I tried everything in the book, including unplugging the unit and leaving it unplugged for about 12 hours. When I plugged it back in, the sound was fine but the picture now has vertical green lines, five of them, with a clear picture in between, and is flashing quite a bit. The bulb seems fine on the set and I'm not getting any error message.

What to do?

i have the same problem except it is only for cable and air tv but with good sound and tv guide comes up fine. pc and dvd works perfect. the only thing that could have caused this is i unplugged the tv for about an hour and moved it about a foot, nothing else.

I suggest unplugging your entire system for one minute to try a reset again. Sometimes a system reset doesn't take the first time. If this does no good you probably have damage to your digital board or dmd board. I have a smaller version of the same set at home and have done samsung's warranty service for several years. They deliver a great picture but do need regular maintenance and or repairs. The upside of all this is if you have homeowners insurance it may be covered, depending on your deductable amount. However, a dmd board can cost 500.00 so you may have to go that route. Hope this helps, Russmann.

The digital board is bad and needs replaced. If you can get the board you hace to crack the metal chassi . Its a pain but if you are mechaniaclly inclined you might be able to do it. Pull the chassi and dissassemble. Lots of screws. Don't force anything and study it closely. It's tricky. There is also a memory transfer proceedure. The board from Samsung comes with instructions.

Thank you!!!! Our power was off due to new transformers being installed in the area and we had no clue how to fix this. I called around and no one seemed to know the answer (not even Samsung, who only wanted to tell me my TWO year old tv was out of warranty),so I tried this and it worked perfectly!!! You saved me a bundle! Thanks!
