Do you mean the BIOS? The model you quote appears to be an ASUS board.

You can get the latest BIOS from HERE. Be sure you get the correct BIOS and follow the instructions carefully to aviod problems. Corrupt BIOS cab render your board usless.

IF link fails go to www.asus.com and search the model no

I had to reformat my xp os on p4s800 and all sorts of drivers are missing > yellow qestions marks listed for ethernet card, video ontroller and video controller vga compatible

You will need to re-install the driver for each component.

If you no longer have the CD's, you can download the drivers from each manufacturer's web site.

Boot block compatible ver.024 Please do not insert disc into cd-rom or floppy drive if you want to recovery with an usb device bad bios checksum.

Bad BIOS checksum: the software on a chip on the motherboard has become corrupted.

Sometimes, you can find a "BIOS update" on the manufacturer's web-site, so that the contents of that chip can be refreshed,
i.e., by booting from a diskette (or from a USB memory-stick) that contains the replacement software.

Contact a qualified technician, and pay them for 1 hour of labour.
Or, replace the motherboard.

What problem is it that you are having?
If you want to upgrade you're CPU here is the Asus link for supported CPU's P4S800-MX motherboard.
http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=P4S800-MX
To the right of the list is the bios file that must be used to support the CPU.

If you need instruction on how to replace a CPU just let me know.

Asus p4s800-mx

The problem is most likely bad capacitors. The may have used a bad batch, with many people having such issues. I understand it is difficult to get several of the caps out without ruining the board completely, so it may not be worth the time and effort it would take to replace them.

Bios update

make sure your bios is an eprom. people download bios upgrades only to find their bios is not a flash bios. that is it doesn't have the infrared source to physically "flash" the chip.
