Question about Whirlpool Washing Machines

1 Answer

We have a top-loading whirlpool washer that needs the cold water filter cleaned out. My husband tried to pull it out the first time but was afraid of breaking the screen off completely with his needle-nose pliers. Does he just need to pull harder, spray it with an oil based lubricant or take off the back of the machine and try to remove it another way?

Use a spray bottle with a hard spray to remove debris. If unable to remove debris, replace valve. Removing the screen will cause the valve to eventually fail, once removed, it can't be put back properly.

Does the Whirlpool, top loading lsr6332kq1 have a lint filter?

I will suggest you steps to check whether your washing machine has a lint filter. Follow the instructions below.
1)Turn off the washing machine and open the lid or door if you have a front-loading appliance.
2)Place your hand on the upper lip of a front-loading or top-loading washer tub and feel around the circumference for a flat tab. Pull out this tab, which is the handle for the lint filter. If you cannot find a tab on a top-loading washer, continue troubleshooting.

3)Unscrew the cap on the top of the agitator in a top-loading washer. The agitator is the center cone inside the appliance.

4)Pull the lint filter out of the agitator and rinse under cold, running water to clean.
5)Slide the filter into position as far as it will go. Replace the agitator cap if your appliance uses a lint filter in the agitator.

Good Morning, Pull the hoses off of the washer again, noting which hose goes where. You may have to pull the washer out to see this. Look at the male parts that are exposed. Take something sharp and pull filter screens out and clean. Reinsert and install hoses. Did it fix it? If not, you need a new water valve part number; 3979346 $35.92 at Sears. Hope this helps and have a good day

I have a whirlpool washer thats a top loader, when I pull the knob for cold water, nothing comes out but when I do it on hot or warm, that does get water. can u tell me why that might happen?

The most likely cause is if there is a screen in your cold water hose it could be full of hard water deposits. There is also a screen on the valve itself. if both of those are clean then you will need a new water valve.

How, can I clean the washer. I washed many time my husband dirty coverols and now its effects my washings.

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

KENMORE top load, direct drive, neutral drain washers are made by Whirlpool.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number (###.######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

The best way to completely clean the washer is to pull the agitators and drum in order to get to the tub.

Following is the Whirlpool / Kenmore Service Manual for top load, direct drive washers.

Following is a description of how to remove the cabinet, pump, motor, transmission and basket drive tube on Whirlpool / Kenmore / Roper direct drive washers.

As an aside, you don't need a special spanner wrench to remove the spanner nut. I've found that a short (10") pipe wrench hooked over one of the spanner nut tabs and tapped with a hammer will usually loosen the nut. Also, rather than hitting the Drive block directly with a hammer, put a short piece of wood under it first to protect it.

Whirlpool washer error code & water doesn't drain all the way

Hello,

F20 indicates insufficient water coming into the machine. I've seen this over and over and over again. The number 1 reason this error code appears is clogged screens in the water inlet valve. If you clean the screens and everything is ok, then it could be the valve itself or a kinked water line in the back.

Note: to clean the filter, you need to take the water lines off the inlet valve (the hot and cold) and pull the screen out with needle nose plyers making sure you don't cruch the screen.

Hope this helps. Good luck and thank you for using fixya.com :)

Water not filling on washer

the inlet filter is probably clogged restricted and/or inhibited flow of water into your machine.
These things happen, and cleaning out the filter is a good first step to finding the problem.

COLD WATER WASH

Turn water cold water valve off by hose. Unscrew hose from both ends. Clean out filter inside the end of the washer water valve where the hose was connected to the machine. Check to make sure there is not a screened washer in either end of the hose which may also need cleaning. Reattach and turn water back on.

Check the lint filter at the end of the hose. The filter is actually inside the washer. My husband cleaned it out and now ours works great. Both hot and cold had stopped running in because of our hard water.

Washer leaves spots on clothing

It most likely is fabric softener. You need to clean dispenser with hot water, if this has one. In real cold water the softener won't disolve properly and will cause this to happen.
