fan won't turn off ,.after gas is turned off.even when cold
have to turn off at power point

I have the same problem.

This would indicate a bad fan relay switch. I can not really give advice on changing it out untill I know what type of unit and the model. Once you have these please comment me back and I will be more than happy to help you out.
