Question about Maytag Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have a maytag stacked washer dryer. The dryer has a lint tray that slides into a narrow vertical opening. Unfortunately, over time this opening is a catch all for lint and dust that escapes from the tray. The dryer seems to be working less effectively and I have an idea that this build up is part of the problem. However, I have not been able to find a tool that is narrow enough to fit into this opening and don't even know how far this 'sleeve' extends or whether this lint/dust is going elsewhere. Is there a solution to cleaning this area without having to call someone in? Thank you

Have you checked where it exhausts to the outside? There might be a buildup there, especially if it has a grate or screen to keep animals out. My outside vent cap tends to get clogged up, especially after I've dislodged chunks of lint from the dryer itself. Also make sure the flexible exhaust duct is not kinked or crushed behind the machine.

I sometimes use refigerater brushes to clean the lint areas out. They have a skinny tip that easily slides in.

You can pull the dryer out and use an ELECTRIC leaf blower to blow the line out.

How do you unstack a Bosch Axxis WTA dryer from a Bosch Axxis WFL 2050 washer?

You do not state the type of stacking kit installed on your Bosch washer. The installation instructions of one of the stacking kits is found at the site Assemby Instructions Bosch Axxis Stacking Kit /WTZ11310.pdf . First remove the front concealment strip to expose the front of the mounting kit. Gently pry with a wooden tool to prevent damage. Once the it is exposed, there are two clip inserts in front of the dryer feet that must be removed. Once these are removed, you pull or slide the dryer forward to release them from the stacking kit and simply lift the dryer off of the stacking kit and the washer. The stacking kit itself is attached to the washing machine with four screws that must be removed to separate the kit from the washer top. And with that, your dryer and washer are separated!

But after separation there are two additional problems that may be bothersome to you. The first is that you now have mounting holes in the top of the washer that are exposed and the second is that the feet on your dryer may need to be replaced as parts of the feet may have been tossed during installation of the stacking kit and may need to be replaced.

The assembly instructions above show only the basic stacking kit. Some kits included a slide that pulls out to allow for a handy tray but the installation or disassembly is nearly the same.

Can you change the door direction on a Maytag

Unfortunately, you can only change front loading dryer door directions on some models. Washing machines do not allow this. If the units are stacked i may be easier to switch loads, otherwise the dryer door may be able to have the door swing direction changed but without the Dryer model # I couldn't say for sure.

My stakable maytag washer leaves lint marks on the

new washer have what is called a washer drain protector, in other words it's a lint catcher for washers and your model has no such part. Do you use powder or liquid detergent? It seems to me that what you see is residue from too much detergent if you use powder. I've heard others with this complaint and to no avail can figure out the cause of this, at least from a view point of a simple wash.

Removal of front panel of a stack washer and dryer mod

Their are screws between the washer and dryer. Undo those and the screws inside the dryer, next too and below the lint trap.

How to remove lint tray receiver: maytag dryer model#pye2300ayw

Unplug first with a straight blade screwdriver, pry up on the top of the dryer where the front wall of the dryer and the top meet. there are 2 screws 1 on each side inside the dryer where the sides and front meet, remove them and unhook the wires from the door switch. the whole front will now pull out and up, now open the door remove the 2 screws at the bottom of the door opening and the whole lint tray will pull out. sounds like a lot but only takes about 5 minutes.

Seperate washer and dryer

Unfortunately, your washer and dryer are part of a "laundry center". Which means, the two together are one system. They cannot be separated. You can still use the dryer, obviously. Have you considered fixing the washer?
