Question about Olympus FE-230 Digital Camera
Turn on camera, makes grinding-type noise, then lens goes in and out several times... nothing focuses... when trying to zoom, camera turns itself off. Camera is exactly one year and one month old. Very annoying that a camera only lasts one year. You can bet that I will rate Olympus much lower than I have in the past for reliability when I fill out Consumer Reports' survey this year. ANy solutions found yet?
OMG This one was pissing me off for the longes because I love to take pictures and the zoom no longer wored on my camrea and the Lense just stayed poped out and would not retract.
I turned on the camra. and then turned it off but while it was turning off I pressed down on the lens and it snaped back into the camrea like it belonged and now it works like new again.
I turned it back on and was able to zoom in and out just fine and when I turned it off it went right back in like it was supposed to!!!
THANK GOD!!! : )

I did the same exact thing as foxy p and it worked. If you turn it on, wait for the lens to stay out, then push the on button and put pressure on the lens as it's going back in, it works perfectly the next time you turn it on- no buzzing or blurryness at all. I'm a little wary of how stable it is but hopefully this is a good enough fix for now.

Unfortunately, had to send the camera in for repair... around $75... but they replaced the lens among other things, so I suppose it's a brand new camera for $75. Although still agravating that it was only "good" for one year.

Tips for a great answer:
Yes, I would be concerned about that,,, you probably have some dirt in the lens causing it to turn hard...
