SOURCE: Gateway Intel 850 Motherboard will not boot

Please download a memory (RAM) testing program for free. Click the link. http://www.memtest.org/
This program will allow you to make either a bootable floppy disk or a bootable CD. Before you can use the above program I will need the correct model No# for the Gateway, found on a sticker somewhere in the PC case along with the serial number.
The information regarding you're board is incorrect. You can find the boards model number written in white lettering somewhere on the board or on the side of a PCI slot.
The link for the Intel 850 is listed here.
http://www.intel.com/design/chipsets/850/
Gatway's link here.
http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/dlcenter.asp

I'll check back from time to time & check if you have found the correct information.

Good Luck
Mike

SOURCE: Adding Memory to Gateway 420r

If you mean a Gateway 420GR (there's no "420R" listed on their site), then you can have up to 4GB of RAM and you can use 1GB modules. Here's a link to the specs page on their site:

I put a 2gb ddr2-667 memory chip in the single (only) memory slot in my gateway nx100x notebook pc. The pc will not boot up with the 2gb memory card. Is there a compatibility problem or do I have a ba

yes, there may be compatibility problem. your 2GB ram may be dead. try your 2gb ram on other notebooks. if it is working on other notebooks, then your ram is ok. your notebook will support maximum 2GB ddr2 memory per slot. your notebook may not be booting due to unsupported frequency of your ram. maximum supported frequency for your notebook may me 400Mhz, and you are putting a 667MHz ram into it. try to put a 400MHz 2GB ddr2 ram in your notebook.

3 long beeps on bootup,black screen,gateway atxeg lx3 700s po4

This is an indication that there is a memory issue. Reseat the memory in the computer and try again. If this fails and you have two or more sticks of memory, try just one in a slot at a time. Hope fully one chip will fail and you have found your bad memory chip. If all chips fail in one slot, try the other, this would incate a bad slot on the mother board.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

I INSTALLED 2X512,COMP WON'T BOOT,INSTALLED 1X256 & 1X512 AND IT WORKS FINE.GATEWAY MX6027 SUPORTS 1 G.

If the single memory modules you installed worked in the same slot, then the second slot might either be defective or need to be cleaned.

I have the Gateway 510G. It will no longer boot. When I press the "On" button, both lights (power and system) light up for about 5-10 seconds and unit then turns off. I've cleaned the inside with air. ...

Try opening the case and "reseating" the RAM (memory). Remove all memory and try to boot. If that works, shut down and add a RAM chip into RAM Slot 1 and try to boot. If that works, add another chip, and so on. It is not impossible for 1 RAM chip to be fried. Also, if you have more than one hard drive hooked up to the PC, try booting with only the boot drive (OS drive). If that works, maybe a slave drive is fried. Good luck.

Gateway Foxconn C51GU01 (105552) Problem: blue

Possible a memory socket is bad. Make sure you are using the correct type of memory including parity and compatible speeds. It is recommended to use like memory sticks in each slot. Some PCs even require the sticks to be equal memory capacity. User's guide should tell you what the compatible capacities and speeds should be. If you don't have the manual, you can get by looking up your PC model number on Gateway.com.

Dell Dimension 8400, no post. B and D amber.

GYGY diagnostic lights -- Memory is detected, but a memory configuration or compatibility error exists, and the 1-3-2 beep sound indicates the MEMORY test failed, which means one of the four memory has gone bad or the one of the four slots on the motherboard has gone bad, Neither the memory nor the mother board has completely gone bad, but either one slot or one memory has gone bad, try placing one memory on all slots and check which slot is the issue, then trying placing any 3 memory on the remainig slot to isolate the memory, then after that use the best 3 in the best 3 slots and check, you computer should work fine, this would help you for sure

Gateway sb-4100-b won't recognize new memory

Check the owners manual of your computer for the correct installation of 2 sticks of memory, this can be critical on computers with 2 banks of 2 slots, it will also tell you the maximum ram that will work. If you do not have the manual, go to the manufactures website and then go to the support link, and browse for memory installation. BPCS
