First change it's cable.
maybe it's cable got an internal cut.
if it doesn't work, you only can take it to a warranty center.

my dear ! I'm really happy cuz i hv done it in just 4 to 8 minutes !!
I'm so happy to tell u that ! u should just update ur wd device system system >>>

You can format your Western Digital drive .first you connect your drive with the computer. Now when the drive prompts you for the password then you enter any wrong password five times. Then you will be prompted to erase the existing drive. If it doesn't prompt to unlock the drive then access the Western Digital smart ware Cd and in the unlocker button double click it.I hope this if you follow this solution your problem is over.

I love to help people because I'm MUSLIM :)

Western Digital drive WDBAAE6400ASL looks like interface damaged, disk file system damaged. Wery important data needed to be restored!

Search online for professional "data recovery services".
For a large fee, they can repair the disk-drive just long-enough to read your "important" files, and copy them to another disk-drive.

Lost pictures

Depending on the exact failure, you have a couple of options. A friend of mine had a similar drive with important photos an it turned out the drive itself was OK, the enclosure had failed. I removed the drive from the enclosure, and connected it to another system with a drive adapter, and recovered the data.
If the actual HDD in the enclosure failed, you can contact a data recovery company like www.drivesavers.com and get an estimate on data recovery (Generally very expensive, just depends on the importance of the data)

Harddisk not detected by system

Do you see the drive light on and can you hear the fan on your disk? If yes then try using a different usb port and a different usb cable. Check to see if there are any other drives with the same drive letter.

You can find this by right mouse clicking my computer, select manage, select disk drive manager see if the drive is recognized and if it trying to use the same letter as another. If so change the letter and it will be seen.

WD passport fried I think. Can I reformat?

Well in this case, formatting should no be performed. the Western Digital data recovery tool should be taken a try first of all. If it doesn't help, then take the device for data recovery services if the data is really important to you.

Remember - DO keep the deivice safe from data overritten or physical damage. Regards.

My external hard disc is not detected by pc and some strange tick

This is never a good sign!! Hard drives only 'tick' when they are bad, or going bad. Some popular techniques for attempting to temporarily fix the drive include freezing it for several hours before trying again, standing the drive on it's thin edge, or lightly tapping it with a SMALL hammer or the **** end of a screwdriver as you power it on. Some have also had success (myself included) removing the controller circuit board and replacing it with the controller of an identical drive, preferably from a drive from the same lot as your broken drive. However I don't recommend this to most people, it is an advanced technique and easy to screw up! Also not likely the problem if the drive is clicking.

If you can get it to work again this way, copy your data from it IMMEDIATELY then recycle the drive and never use it again!

A final option would be to send the drive to a data recovery specialist, but be forewarned this can be VERY expensive.
