Re: How do i goto system restore
A blue screen indicates an operating system error or glitch. Without being able to upload to Windows, you won't be able to do a restore. You will need to do an operating system repair with the recovery or operating system disc. If the repair doesn't take, then try a system reload. If you have any problems at this point during of after the reload, then the hard drive may have failed.

The best way to get this resolved would be a system restore.
Restart your computer and Hit the F8 key before windows logo appear. Boot the computer in safe mode Log in as Administrator Go to syster restore (Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore) Click next Select a date when everything seems to be working fine Complete the restore Let the computer restart in normal mode
CREATE A BACK OF DATA INIT
BETTER THEN RESTORING U CAN RESTORE UR SYSTEM TO A PERIOD WHEN UR THINKPAD WAS RUNNING SUCCESSFULLY AND THIS DOESNT DELETE ANY DATA ON UR HARD DISK
START PROGRAMMES ACCESSORIES
SYSTEM TOOLS SYSTEM RESTORE
THIS WILL SURELY HELP U
Do you mean that, in system information the users name is name after your friend?
Goto control panel, goto system, goto advanced system, click computer name, put the name you like click change and then click ok.
Changing user name- goto control panel, goto user accounts select create a new user account or manage another account fill the blank except if you don't want to password it, set it as administrator if everything is done, log off then log to the created account backup the files from the other account. Then delete the account of your friend under User Accounts. The only thing left will be name to you. Except some other name he/she change in registry like registered name.
Invoke the system file checker,In the command prompt type:
sfc /scannow (space between sfc and the / )
The system will immediately begin to check all the current system files and restore the cached approved copies.
Note:You may be asked to insert the Windows CD during the restore.
Error 19990301 on a Thinkpad 600 usually indicates that the hard drive is not properly connected, and error code 19990305 signifies "no bootable device". So, it's the hard drive.
First of all, I would try removing and replacing the drive to see if that cures it. You can get the service manual from Lenovo at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=LWIK-3SYPX2
If this doesn't fix it, the hard drive is faulty. However, small size hard drives (10 or 20Gb) which suit these older machines are very cheap on eBay.
