you need windows 7 cd key to make it active. although it is active just not all the functions will work, like windows update and so. you probably installed a so called "cracked version" its nothing that bad i would say but its just not "Genuine" because you don't have a cd key.
In order for the other person to hear you, there must be a microphone installed on your computer. You mentioned that you have speakers, but you didn't say anything about whether your pc has a mic installed or not?
You can check to see if a mic is installed by going to your control panel and click on sounds, then look for the input device under voice. There is an option to test the device there too. If there are no devices installed there will probably be a red "X" or nothing in the device selection area.

IF it came with a Vista Install, and you are installing the exact same Vista, then YES, The "Key" on the bottom, is the right one and it will absolutely work. These units have a BIOS that has a special Activation Code inside. The Windows install "Sees" that "Code" and Activates Vista. You DO need to user an ACER Version though, this can be downloaded from the "net though, as an ISO,burn that to DVD, and you can use that.
Download the drivers from the Acer WEB site Make sure you select the model of your laptop and the XP or Vista version of the drivers you that require matches the Windows version that is installed on your laptop.
