Question about Dualit 20247 2-Slice Toaster

1 Answer

Faulty timer I used the toaster and the timer was fine, but when I went to use it again ten minutes later, the timer was stopping and starting.  This isn't a problem that happened gradually... one minute it was working and the next minute it wasn't.  I had to keep checking the toast to see how it was doing so it wouldn't burn and eventually advanced the timer manually to the OFF position, where it still continued to emit short bursts of noise until it finally stopped.

    Hi everyone.
I have a dualit toaster 2 slice. i took it apart years ago, and now igot a switch for it. but for some reason i reckon the switch isdifferent from the last one.
it has neutral next to a number 1
live next to a number 4
and a connection at number 2, and one at number 5
I vae a two way switch with 3 connectons, with no indication of what goes where?

the plug wire has the usual brown blue and green, green already earthed to case.
and from the elements you have, 2 reds and 1 blue. there is also aconnection wire on its own, i beleive one of the ends would connect tothe switch.
    Can anyone help please

My dualit toaster went dead

You have not give which model of your toaster. However this is ususaly to the timer switch which usualy stuck to off and cannot move the contact to close and switch on the toaster. Also the selector switch can also be burn and cannot switch on again. You need a electrical tester to check which one is bad.

Hello, the timer on my toaster keeps sticking. It's potentially rather dangerous if you put a slice of bread in and forget about it as the timer stops but the toaster remains on.

This one of the most frequent problem of dualit toaster. Timer is also power electric switch whith contacts which from long time use they stuck due to sparking during contact. You need to replace the timer switch . you can find one at ebay is the same for all models. just take care the voltage 120v or 240 v. Als take a picture before remove the wires on the timer since you might forget how to put them back on the new switch.

Dualit 4-slice toaster stopped toasting, never heats up

We had the same problem. I took off the bottom plate, cleaned the toaster, reseated all of the connectors on the heating plates, timer, and switch, and the toaster started working again. Only one connector was slightly loose (but it was still connected with decent contact). I am not sure what fixed it. If that did not work, my next step was to purchase replacement parts online and swap out the switch, timer, and heating plates (in that order). We have an older model than yours, but I suspect that the parts are similar. The parts all look very easy to replace. These units are intended to be repaired and not replaced.

Dial stops turning leaving heat on. How can I stop this happening?

It's your timer thats faulty due to wear and tear.140.jpg this part is available from catering parts and should look like item pictured. Fitting part is simple for any half competent D.I.Y enthuiast requiring a posi screw and a flathead screwdriver(Any flatblade will do).Step1.Remove all six retaining screws at base of toaster four are holding the feet and a couple more holding the plate. You will see the back of the timer assembly.Step 2.Using the flat screwdriver or blade gently lever off timer dial which will expose the dial spindle and also 2 retaining screws which holds the timer assembly in place.Remove these screws with your posi screwdriver.Make a note of terminal wires to the timer unit as these will all have to be removed and put back unto your new timer unit.Step 3 relace all wires as they were on faulty unit and a re-assemble toaster. This should definately solve your problem.Happy toasting and don't forget take your time and get it right keep all your screws as they will probably have to be re-used as replacement units some times come without screws so old screws may have to be used.Good luck

The timer on my Dualit Marmite toaster has stopped working properly. It is a clockwork timer and from time to time, just stops going round, which is dangerous. How do I repair it?

As with all clockwork mechanisms, they all have springs and gears and side plates, they are not too hard to fix, as long as you don't release the spring, then it's a mission to get it back, into the container, (it's a bit like toothpaste comes out easy very hard to put it back into the tube)..So careful removal, and maybe just cleaning out may help, toasters are fairly simple devices, as you will see if you disassemble, remove the wires from the Timer, write down draw a diagram of where they went, now, have a good look, and maybe even do a rough drawing of how it all looks, no, give it a good clean, and grease up, and maybe you can save it. if it has open set contacts, then clean them with fine sandpaper, tighten everything up, and test it. When all is well, put back into the toaster and wire back up, check over again, and power up, stand back, and admire your work, well hopefully. Be very careful of the Elements they are very fragile...

The heating elements don't come on.The timer is working as you can hear the clicks but that's about all.

Hi our 3 slice dualit toaster gets stuck when you turn the toasting timer and does not switch off. It could burn the house down!

We have the same problem and it has been on all day, and credit to the toaster it has not yet burnt out an element, I am looking to replace the timer as I found that the pivot inside is on a plastic bearing and that has worn, I did find a timer on a web site but cant find it now.

Left-hand section only toasts on one side

The heating resistor on the left side has shorted with the case. Since you don't know very much on electrical equipment (to fix it you would have to open it, remove the shorted piece of wire, reattach all and insulate them properly) and the price of a new item is low, just buy a new one and discard this one. You shouldn't use it again, under no circumstances - if you're unlucky it can kill you.

Unplug toaster and lay toaster on its back. Gently pry the timer knob up and off the front of the toaster and spray the shaft several times with WD-40. Replace the timer knob and manually operate the timer repeatedly, thereby working the WD-40 down the timer shaft. Test the timer to see if it now operates freely. If not, repeat the above steps. Set toaster upright and plug in. This worked for me. If it doesn't work on your toaster, then have it repaired professionally.
