The mobo worked fine then the MDM & NW stoped working. I d/w all the right dvrs but no go. The OS is Vista Home, which ran well until. I tried to reinstall the OEM CD but no go. I did a new HD with theCD and still the chips won't work.
Intel says that mobo is for WXP and some dvrs won't work. It is in a EMachine T5082
Will and aux ethernet card work? Which one?
Is there a step by step test pg for this?

I have built quite a few PCs and I have often found the same problem when trying to boot for the first time. An old trick that might help is to repeatedly energize then drain the PC electricity. Do this by plugging in the PC momentarily then unplugging it then immediately pressing the power button on the PC while there is no power hooked up. Do this several times over and over again in quick succession. Finally turning on the PC with the power connected. If the power supply on the PC has a switch on it you may use that instead of actually plugging and unplugging. Also you might try pressing and holding down the "ins" or "insert" key while powering on the PC. Hope this helps.
No to the cpu you selected. Board would not support that cpu. The RAM you selected would probably work but for how long I couldn't say. With prices pretty low right now it would probably be better to purchase a new motherboard, cpu, & RAM. Hope this helps.
this problem is due overheating, and you say yo have a C2D with this mobo.... at intel site it said that this mobo works fine with intel P4, Pentium Duo an Celeron but not C2D. Its true that you have 800Mhz FSB and it will detect the micropro.... and work fine but the C2D will overheat the mobo for its need of energy and overheat it so it start restarting. I dont know how much that mobo is going to last but start installing all cooler you can....the mission is to cool down that mobo and micro...
I believe that it should work with that chip. If you have the manual for the MoBo try resetting the cmos on the board. That should put every thing back to its defaults. It is posable that it is trying to run it at the wrong voltage.
