My Lift Master remote does not work. The wall mounted unit will open and close the door, but the remote control does not. I've changed the battery with a 1a battery from Radio Shack- but it still won't operate the door. Any ideas? Also, if I need to replace the remote, what retailers carry them? Thanks for your help! Check the wall console. If it has a lock button and the LED is flashing, the GDO is locked. None of the remotes will work, only the wall button. If it is locked, press the lock button and hold for a couple seconds and release. The LED should stop flashing, and the remotes should start to work.
If the door will open but not close, and the lights flash 5 times, check the door sensors. Make sure the sensors are aligned with each other, and the LEDs are both on.

I have the same problem, and I made sure the GDO is not locked.

I have a liftmaster formula 1 1280R opener that works fine from the wall mount but all of a sudden both remotes and the built-in remote in my car stopped working. It is not the batteries in the remotes. ...

The motor/control unit may have gotten reset. It needs to relearn the codes transmitted by the remotes.

MIne has a "learn" button on the control unit. Press and hold, then press the button on the remote. Lights will flash indicating it has received and stored the code. Release button.

Check to see if the remote works now. If so, all three should be working. If not, dig up your manuals.

Lift master formula I will not close, only goes half way down, but fully opens. Worked fine until my wife closed the door on the car, after that it would fully close

I had this problem as well with the door opening just fine but was not closing when using the remotes or when breifly pressing the wall mounted control. The door would close only when using the wired wall mount control. I have experienced this problem with other garage door openers I've had in my previous homes and it was always caused by sensors at the bottom of the door tracks being either misaligned or the lenses were dirty. In this case, and it was just a moment ago today, I simply cleaned the sensor lenses and then the door began to function properly. Give it a try.

Master lift remotes suddenly won't work. Wired panel button works opening and closing door.

Make sure the light in the wall control is not blinking. If it is press and hold the lock button on the wall control for 3 seconds.

You need to get the correct model number which you should be able to find on the end closest to the door. Any door opener service company will be able to help you.

Remote only closes the garage door, will not open it

Anytime a door opens and/or closes randomly or doesn’t work consistently I look for a smashed wire between the motor unit and the wall button.

If the wire is smashed the insulation becomes so thin that power will leak thru the insulation and activate the door or interfere with the remote signal.

Loosen the staples with a small screwdriver and slide the wire about ½ inch to move any areas of thin insulation away from the staples.

The second thing would be a bad wall button or a remote with a sticking button.
Or a remote in someone’s purse that gets the button pushed by other stuff in the purse.

The test is to disconnect the push button wires at the power unit. If the self operation / interference stops you have located the problem. If you reconnect the wires and disconnect the wire at the wall button this will tell you if the problem is the wire or the button.

In your case the expansion of the wall in the afternoon may be enough to cause pressure on the wire to increase the problem – works in the morning but not the afternoon.

Also after you change the batteries you need to reprogram the remotes.
