Question about Initial DTV172 17 in. TV/DVD Combo
Is this tv/dvd combo one you just picked up or one that you already had that was working fine and now its not. The reason I ask is that how the dvd portion of it was or was not working well before the current problem would help to identify the problem better. However, yes the tv can be repaired. The question is because of the size whether or not it is economically feasible. That question really depends on what your local tv repair shops charge you. In my area that problem would be at least $45 - $65. Certainly, it can be fixed. With my experience with that problem in tv/dvd combos including some I have owned, the problem could be as easy as a mechanical problem with the dvd portion such as a or sensor that detects whether the dvd door is open or closed and a disc present or it could be just a dirty dusty mainboard and power supply that needs to be cleaned. Dust and lint accumulation on the components inside that tv can cause all sorts of problem because they tend to collect small static charges and eventually over time renders a critical component on the mainboard such as a relay that cycles the power on and off to fail. Since you do get the initial logo and blue screen I would say your power supply is good. But since I cannot see inside your tv this is the best answer I can give you for now. Good luck and God bless you.
