In order for you to find your routers address, click START, RUN, type CMD followed by RETURN or ENTER, and type IPCONFIG/ALL followed by RETURN or ENTER. Look for DEFAULT GATEWAY. Put that address in your browser to access it.

The picture is an example of what you should see. Once in your router (you may need to log in with a user name and password), you will need to navigate to your wireless settings and check the WEP (located under the security settings) settings and write down the list of numbers and letters. To differentiate between numbers and letters, the key will only have the letters A B C D E and F. So a 0 would not be an "o" but a zero.

I also lost my key, but I am alos on a different computer now. I originally used this router on a laptop a few years ago. It died, and now trying to go wireless with a new laptop, but I can not connect without the key.

Is there anyway to retrieve the key using a different computer?

I take it you are talking about your WEP key? On your computer, log into your router's web based settings using your network gateway (192.168.1.1) using admin for both username and password. Under the heading of wireless security or just security you should be able to locate your passphrase or WEP key that you established when you set up your securitysettings.
Have your friend then log into your network by using this same Key when prompted.

Good Luck and let me know if you have any more questions.

I am trying to connect my iPhone 5 S to my wireless network and have forgotten my password. HELP. To connect to wi-fi I need a password and can not remember the password as this router was set up years ago

Firstly log into your router from your computer. If you don't know the username and password, try the default one which is Username: admin Password: Admin. Check under Wireless setting and you will see the current password listed there. You can change it to a new one if required. Just remember to save after you've done any changes.

How do i set up password to keep anyone from using my wireless connection

Turn the unit on and open a browser window on your computer. Be sure that you've selected the Name of the router, default is linksys, as the network that your computer is connected to. Browse to the Admin page of the router by typing in its IP address, default is 192.168.1.1. You should see a logon screen. The unit should ship with a default password, which is admin. That is, you leave the username field blank and type the word 'admin' (no quotes) into the password field. (Once you are logged in, you can change the password for logging into the router thru Administration --> Management. You should see a two boxes to verify the new password that you would like to create.) For creating a password for the secure Wireless connection, go to Wireless --> Wireless Security. To set up the Wireless security, tho, I think you'll have to connect with an ethernet cable. You can then walk thru the setup. Use WPA2 as the security, if possible.

I am trying to connect a new kindle to my existing wi fi (cisco linksys) but cannot remember the password I entered for my linksys.

I think you meant the access key password for your wireless security and not the password for the router itself (2 separate passwords).
I'll give you both solutions starting with the wireless key password.
1. access the router configuration page by typing http://192.168.1.1 in your browsr. 2. This should pop up a log in window asking for user name & password 3. The default settings for a linksys router say to leave the username blank and type admin for the password. 4. once you're in look for the Wireless tab and click it then click on wireless security 5. your password will be listed there in the shared key box.
Now if its your router access password that you need you'll need to reset the router if you can't remember it and then follow the steps above to create a wireless security password. Here's how you reset the router. Remember that all custom settings you may have set will be erased and the router will go back to original factory configuration settings
1. On the back of the router you'll find a small hole or indentation and it may or may not have the word reset printed by it. 2. Find a paper clip or something of the same size and use it to press the reset button for about 2-3 seconds 3. Router will be reset
Good luck

Wireless connection

plug the computer into the router with a data cable. open browser and type in 192.168.0.1 or perhaps 192.168.1.1 -- when the router displays it will ask for a password. if you had one and can't remember it do a hard reset to return to factory settings. then log into it leaving the username blank with the default factory password. many times that password is admin -- download the owner's manual that will have the default password and instructions and explanations for the settings, including how to do a "hard, factory" reset for free at the manufacturer's website. try the help, support, or download sections. the drivers are there too.

You can secure your wireless network wit WEP or WAP code.
For that Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.
http://192.168.0.1
or
http://192.168.1.1
For belkin router http://192.168.15.1
or
http://192.168.2.1

If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it.
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank.
Then you can see configuration page of router.
Click on wireless settings then enable WEP Security then add WEP code .It is your password to connect wi fi.Then save settings and restart router.
Then you can connect your wi fi network with that code.

Wireless not working, asking for password??

Open your web browser and go to the URL http://192.168.1.1. This will take you to a web page with a popup box which asks you to enter a username and password to login required to login to your router. On older Linksys routers, the username is set to "blank" and the password is set to "admin" (without the quotes). On newer Linksys routers, both the default username and the default password are set to "admin". Click on login. You have logged in to the Administrator account and are now able to access and change the Security WEP password. Remember to also add the new password to your wireless adaptor on your laptop when prompted. Good Luck...

I have forgotten my password and need to connect a new computer to my router-the router is a belking plus mimo and I have a linksys wireless g speed booster -what do I do to fix this? Many thanks

Reset the both routers in order to go to the factory default setting.
BELKIN (192.168.2.1) normally has no user name or password. So just hit enter.
Linksys (192.168.1.1)
User Name: admin
Pass Word: admin

You can always change the user name and password

Good Luck!

When configure security, is better to connect to network cable. Because once u setup the wireless key such as WEP or WPA, u will be log out from the wireless connection and u need the correct key to login.
