Question about Canon ZR800 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Battery Removal I am new to the digital camcorder world...just udpated from an analog. I bought the Canon ZR800 and it came with a generic looking battery connected to it and already charged. It slides up and down with a click, but I can't release it. I have read the book, but it doesn't say specifically how to do this. I have pressed the black button that says "BATT" and it still doesn't release. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any help!

While pressing the "batt" button, slide the battery all the way up, then pull it away from the back of the unit.

Please mark as solved.

Computer doesn recognize camera

Have you downloaded the drivers for that camera: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/camcorders/minidv_camcorders/zr800#DriversAndSoftware

Also if it still doesn't work try taking the memorycard out of the camera and reading it using a memory card reader.

Flashing red symbol on screen - not 'no cassette loaded' symbol.

I had the same problem with my ZR800. After lots of searching on the net I found out what the symbol indicates. It means that the little battery that holds the memory for the clock is weak. It's under a little cover behind the main battery compartment. I put in a new one that the flashing icon is gone. I put the battery I took out into another ZR800 and the icon started flashing on it. A simple solution that Canon should have posted in the manual.

Macbook not recognizing camcorder

I had this problem when first plugging in my Canon zr80 to my Mac. What I did first was (if you have it) open up the program Imovie in you're applications menu. Then plug the firewire cable into both the camera and computer. Turn the camcorder on and set it to play(VCR). Once this happens you should see a "DV in" on the camcorders screen, followed by a blue window on you're computer. The rest should be easy.

I don't think everything will remove off the screen. Your battery level and timers will remain on the screen at all times.
