I was wondering what is the best way to wire a CB radio on a Class C, RV. I currently plug it nto the cigeratee lighter, but the radio picks up the noise of the engine. Any suggestions?

Your best bet is to hard wire it and provide a solid paint free ground so that engine noise is better eliminated. Im not sure what you have for wires, if it only has a cigarette lighter connection then there will only be 2 wires under the cig lighter insulation.. Obviously they may be black and no way to identify which one is power and which one is ground, you are going to have to trace the wire once its cut and see which one is leading towards the mini fuse inside the plug and which one is wired to the ground clip, obviously the one with the ground clip or the one connected to the spring prongs which put pressure on the cigarette plug is the ground wire and the other gopes to ignition power with an inline fuse to protect your CB radio. Wire that wire to an ignition switch source and the other to a solid ground connection.Try it out and see what happens, let me know how u made out.

Good luck.

Lex..

I need to know which factory wires are hot and ground so I can install a new radio without a wiring harness

what you are going to need is the wiring diagram... either car manual might have it or a local car audio place might have it... obviously the charge you for it... usualy for newr cars you can find it for free just by researching it on google... i found this for you duno if it helps... just code the wires and cut them to make your new bridge to the unit without a harnest
Have fun
goodluck

Cobra cb radio, model 75 wx st, has loud and clear weather radio transmissions but receiver is weak and has loud scratchy pops. Transmitter is unknown as no one has ever answered a call for radio check....

You didn't actually have a "category" for CB radio so I picked the closest thing to it but in no way does it resemble a speaker and sub woofer problem. I did not continue with the query because the CB is in an RV and not colocated with the computer and I decided there was no way for you to diagnose the problem without me knowing more about the system installation. I need to get the RV in to someone who knows CB radios.

Cb feedback though external am/fm speakers

Hi Big OX,

Terrible problem.  I know what your going though.  Route your AM/FM Antenna wire, and Speaker wires separate from the  CD Antenna cable and power supply wires. If you can,  twist the speaker wires.  If the Speaker wires are run along side the CB Antenna wire for a short distance, you will pickup feedback. If you much have the Antenna wire get near the speaker wires, have the antenna wire cross the speaker wire at a 90 degree angle. Try not to run the antenna wire in paralell with the speaker wires.   Good luck
