Set the calculator's Input/Output Mode to MthIO. In that mode the key that is marked with the icon of a fraction ( a bar, two rectangles, one above the bar, the second below it) will display the template of a fraction. You are supposed to enter the numerator in the upper rectangle, and the denominator in the lower rectangle.

The little L is the way to separate the numerator from the denominator. That is the old way of writing fractions. If you want the stacked representation, switch the display mode to MathIO.
Press Shift Mode to get to Settings, then enter the number corresponding to MathIO.

On TI-84 plus calculator i know how do do fractions but i dont not know how to change the settings so when i type it in it actually looks like a fraction

I will assume that your calculator is equipped with one of the later Operationg systems. (2.53 MP and later).
To be able to use the Math Print templates you must set the IO display to MATH.
To do so turn calculator ON, press the MODE key to display the configuration pages. Scroll down to reach Page 2. At the top of the page you have Math and Classic. Use left arrow key to highlight MATH and press ENTER to validate.
Afterwards, when you want to type in a fraction or a loagb function, etc. press the ALPHA key. You will see TABS at the bottom of the screen. Activate a TAB by pressing the Fx key that is below it (F1, F2, or F3). You can move from one TAB to the next by pressing the Left/Right navigational keys.

Assuming that you pressed the improper fraction key, you will see a template of a stacked fraction. Enter the numerator in the upper square and the denominator in the lower square. Press the enter key.
In the MODE configuration you can force the display to be mixed fraction or improper fraction. You can also force a decimal representation of fractions (as results of calculations).

How do i enter a fraction on the calculator

In math IO mode, press the key marked with a two-level fraction symbol (1 solid square in numerator, fraction bar, 1 empty square as denominator.) A fraction template is displayed. Use the up or down key to move cursor to numerator or denominator. Press [=] key when finished.

How to change or put math mode without fractions or scientific notation on calculator fx-155 es natural display

I am not sure what you want because the mathIO mode IS THE ONE THAT DISPLAYS results as fractions.
You have two display modes: MthIO (with fractions, radicals) and LineIO (with decimals). Which one do you want?
To set MthIO press [Shift][MODE][1:MthIO]
To set LineIO, press [SHIFT][MODE][2:LineIO]

Concerning the scientific display mode.
Decimal numbers can be displayed in various formats, Fixed,Scientific, and Normal. If you do not want scientific display of results, just set the mode to Fix(ed) and specify the number of decimal digits. However if a number to be displayed (a result) is too small or too large IT WILL BE DISPLAYED in scientific format regardless of the mode you selected.

How to change or put math mode without fractions or scientific notation on calculator fx-155 es natural display

Press SHIFT MATH 2 to switch to the LineIO mode. You won't see fractions then. However, if magnitude of the number is too large or too small, the calculator will switch to scientific notation in order to fit into the display.

I am trying to get the calculator in "basic math" mode. displaying the answers in "basic form" unless i am selecting otherwise.

Hi,
The calculator has two Input/Output modes: MthIO and LineIO. Since I do not know exactly what you mean by "basic math" mode or "basic form" I must summarize some properties of each mode so that you can recognize your "basic math" mode.
  1. In MthIO, you have access to the multistory templates to enter fractions with a horizontal fraction bar etc. the exponents for the powers are raised above the main line, etc.
  2. In LineIO, what you enter in calculator is all on the same line, fraction and radical results are displayed as decimal numbers, etc.
The calculator is by default in the MathIO mode. If it not, you can restore it by pressing the key sequence: [SHIFT][MODE] (SETUP) and select [1:MthIO].
To set the LineIO as the default, you press the key sequence: [SHIFT][MODE] (SETUP) and select [2:LineIO].

Hope it helps.
Thank you for rating the solution.

Problems with fractions on the Casio fx-115es

Hello,
To convert fractions to decimals or decimals to fractions, you use the [S<->D] key. Each time you press the key the result is displayed in the other format.
Alternatively, If you multiply or divide two integer numbers put a decimal mark at the end of one of the numbers (any one). The result will be displayed in decimal format.

Hope it helps.

How to do fractions.

A fraction is just division of the numerator by the denominator.  So all you have to do is enter the division symbol in place of the fraction bar.  If you are trying to enter a mixed fraction: for example 3 3/5 enter: (3+3/5) were the / is the division button or your calculator.
