Question about Technics SA-DX1050 Receiver

Open Question

No video I can't get any video to pass through my SA-DX1050 in any configuration. Never have. Every time I rewire my system (every time I get or replace a component) I try and fail and just don't use the video jacks. Is my AV receiver faulty or is there some secret I don't know? I know that I can't input S-video and output composite video, but I can't input and output either.

Same problem, only in my case, everything was working fine up until a few days ago. Then video output began to be intermittent. Now nothing. I have S-Video input from DVD player, S-video output to TV. When picture disppears, message on TV says "no signal".

Technics sa-dx1050 overload

if any one of the channels was shorted out, even momentarily, that channel's output transistors would likely be blown causing it to stay in protection mode. (or overload as you put it). Time to visit the repair shop.

Technics surround sound system

Use whatever TV sound output conforms to your receiver's input. If an optical or coaxial digital sound output is available, that is the way to get 5.1 surround sound through the SA-DX1050. But you have to assign the correct input (COAX, OPT1 or OPT2) to the selector (TV, DVD, CD). See pp 12-13 of the operationg instructions for D-Input instructions. If you don't have the manual you can download it at Panasonic.com.

Overheating

Be sure there is room around your receiver to breathe. Be sure the fan is working. Is this after it has operated for a while? Try turning off the receiver when not using it.
