JVC KD-R610 is stuck in Protect mode

Try disconnecting your battery, reconnecting it, and resetting your stereo. If that doesn't work, the constant power (yellow wire) or ignition wire (red wire) may have come in contact with ground or isn't properly connected. Make sure everything is connected properly and try resetting your stereo. If it is still flashing "protect", the unit needs servicing Contact JVC Customer Care Center at: 800-252-5722.

It does Power on but with no viedo, no sound, no gps...

Hi,

Initially, pls try a reset. The reset button is recessed button a tiny hole on the face plate above the right knob.

Alternately, seek the services of third party repair, for a start, try eBay.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Notice: Upgraded Flex-Cable for Flip Screen in Navigation Models AVIC-N1 and AVIC-N2 To: January 3, 2007 Dear Valued Customer: Re: Upgraded Flex-Cable for Flip Screen in Navigation Models AVIC-N1 and AVIC-N2 We would like to inform you of a potential service issue with Pioneer's AVIC-N1 and AVIC-N2, inform you of our plans to resolve this service issue, and ask for your help in notifying consumers. If a consumer is not experiencing any issues currently, there is no need for the consumer to take immediate action because the one-time fix to resolve the service issue will be available if an AVIC-N1 and AVIC-N2 later experiences the service issue. _Importantly, the service issue does not pose any health or safety risk._ Pioneer is aware of a potential issue with the flex-cable powering the flip screen to the AVIC-N1 and the AVIC-N2. After a number of power cycles, the cable has been observed to fail and cause the unit to malfunction (symptoms may include, but are not limited to, the flip-screen becoming blank) -- flex-cable failure can only be confirmed by Pioneer; standard service charges may apply for service issues not related to the flex-cable upgrade. This issue may affect almost all AVIC-N1 units and AVIC-N2 units. Please contact Pioneer at the number listed below if you have a question about whether your AVIC-N1 or AVIC-N2 unit is affected by this issue, or if a specific malfunction affecting your AVCI-N1 or AVIC-N2 is related to this issue. To address this issue, Pioneer is providing a one-time cable upgrade to consumers for their AVIC-N1 and AVIC-N2 at no charge to consumers for parts and labor. Pioneer will offer the free upgrade either upon request or automatically if an affected unit is serviced for another reason. Pioneer will exclusively perform the free cable upgrade for all units (i.e., no other service facility should perform the cable upgrade). If you own an AVIC-N1 or AVIC-N2 and you are experiencing the service issue, please contact Pioneer Customer Service toll free at 800-421-1603 to arrange for the cable upgrade. Pioneer service representatives are available Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (Eastern Time). Customers who have paid for the cable upgrade are eligible for reimbursement of certain service costs if sufficient proof of service can be provided -- please contact Pioneer at the above-listed phone number for more information regarding reimbursement rules. Power comes on but nothing works even monitor

It's probably your ribbon cable is broken. Pioneer replace it for free the 1st time. Contact them to send it in for service. It is a common issue for the Avic N series. If it is out of warranty then the guy on Ebay will fix it for you for around $100. Try SAME DAY AUDIO SERVICE, his name is Rick and he is very reliable. Goodluck.

AVIC-N1

You may have the circuit board broken that holds those buttons. If I remember correctly those are all in the same area. If so, you have some kind of a problem with the board. Nothing you can do to fix it except to take it to a service center and see if they can repair the board or replace it.

Little red light under faceplate is blinking but i cannot get it to do anything

The blinking light is the anti theft light. When face plate is off this light always blinks. As far as the system not working, make sure you have power, check with a voltmeter, then check fuses. Check the fuses on the wire harness and also where you connected the power leads to the vehicle. If you have power, make sure that all wires are connected correctly. Also, check the ports on the stereo and gps unit to make sure no pins are bent over. Sometimes this may happen. If all looks good, there could possibly be a problem with the system. Expensive to get fixed, but there are a few guys on ebay that will fix it for around $150. Might be worth it, but you need to talk to them about that.

I removed the battery terminals and then reconnected and now my navigator doesn't work. When I take the faceplate off there is a flashing red light

Are there any internal fuses that I can check. External ones seem to be ok

You do have both parts of this unit? The Display unit and the (brain) Hide away unit. If so try resetting the unit. it is located behind a tiny hole on the face plate. Just above the right knob.
