Question about Logitech Z-5500 Computer Speakers

Sub-woofer malfunction My problem is the diaphragm of sub-woofer is acting erratically. Sometimes it functions and some times not. A bit of **** is required to make the woofer functional. I checked the wiring inside and they are fine. Do I have to get a replacement speaker or it can be repaired??

If the amp is going bad repair or replace, the sub you would probably have to replace, this would be the best fix. but check the amp also.good-luck!

Do i have to have the sub-woofer in order for my logitech X-230 speakers to work with my computer?

Certainly any large speaker itself cant be used with
very weak computer out signal
The signal should have power amplification in addition to
voltage amplification to energise large speakers

How to open the creative sbs 370 2.1 speakers? I have unscrewed the 4 screws.. but still I can open it only partilally

By removing the four screws you only release the back panel of the Electronics Board and Sockets on the Woofer unit. It takes quite a bit of manipulating to get it out as Creative have "Creatively" put very short speakers leads in the unit which does not allow easy removal. You can unsolder the woofer leads to remove the whole assembly, however make sure that you put the red and black leads back in the right holes on the pcb when re-assembling. As for the satellite speakers, unless you have a good reason to open them.....my advice is don't. Sometimes the attitude of the makers of these things is that if it fails the user will most likely discard it. If it doesn't come apart easily you have no option but to apply some reasonable force. Why do this....just for the heck of it?
When it is working normally this really is an excellent performer as a computer multimedia 2.1 channel system.

Is it possible to get an X240 sub-woofer repaited? In a house move the speaker diaphragm has been damaged - can i get a spare? and how much?

it will cost you more to repair than to replace and there are very few people that do that anymore. best bet would to be to look for a replacement of that model number on ebay or other websites that sell old gear.

Short in subwoofer wire - Altec Lansing computer speakers & sub

yes, you can splice the cables and put on a new connector, goto radio shack with the old connector and im sure they will have one you can splice right onto it. ive done this many times with varios equipment "headphones speakers etc" it may take a couple of tries to get the wiring right but if its just one speaker there will most likely be just 2 wires, if you wire it up and it doesnt quite sound right, wire it the other way. speakers will work wired backwards but wont sound quit right so if it doesnt, rewire it and it should. good luck and i hope this helps!

If i increase the sub woofer volume the voice distorts and gives a buzzing sound. it works fine on low volume

Your sub woofer is not mean for voice sound...check that you have connected the systen up properly and that you have put the sub woofer into its wn connection..if it is in the right connection the woofer could be blown.also try decrease the midrange hurts on the woofer

My speakers only work one at a time...

Check you have plugged them into the correct socket on the back of the PC ..

Chances are you have 3 sockets - first = 'front' (or pair), middle = 'back' (for 4+ speaker sets) and last = 'center & sub-woofer' ..

Sounds like you have plugged into the 'center & sub-woofer' socket :-)

Audio controller on XA2021 malfunction

These items are not serviceable. If your are electrically minded you could try to find an alternative part But the norm is to replace the whole set up. Or download a suitable software to control through the pre-amp in the computer - www.audacity.com. RealTek97
