Question about Logitech Z-5500 Computer Speakers

Sub-woofer malfunction My problem is the diaphragm of sub-woofer is acting erratically. Sometimes it functions and some times not. A bit of **** is required to make the woofer functional. I checked the wiring inside and they are fine. Do I have to get a replacement speaker or it can be repaired??

If the amp is going bad repair or replace, the sub you would probably have to replace, this would be the best fix. but check the amp also.good-luck!

Why does my woofer go off then back on again when I touch it?

A woofer consist of 4 parts, the diaphragm, the gasket ,the coil and the magnet. So when u touch the diaphragm it goes back on after no sound?....assuming this is what happens, there are 2 wires running from the coil to the diaphragm it could either be broken or worst case the coil itself has a broken or burnt coil wire. Recoil the coil if that is the case, idk from where u are but in RSA we get recoiled replacement kits for these situations

My mission Mv-as subwoofer has an intermittant problem - it works for a short time and then the unit fails to function. there is not a problem with the power and the speaker unit is not damaged. is this...

Yes , the possible fault can be a suspected fault in the sub woofer power amplifier. You will need to remove to check the circuit.
It can be a faulty or dry soldering in the main board., re solder IC.
Also if the IC is faulty it can be erratic, a signal test must prove it right applied to the input.

I have problems with the turbo of my Passat 2002 TDI Sometimes it stops working other times it works perfectly. What factors affect the turbo performance. Is the oil type, or coolant a factor?

The wastegate controls the operation of the turbo, it directs exhaust pressure to the turbo, If it does not function properly the turbo will act erratically

My speakers only work one at a time...

Check you have plugged them into the correct socket on the back of the PC ..

Chances are you have 3 sockets - first = 'front' (or pair), middle = 'back' (for 4+ speaker sets) and last = 'center & sub-woofer' ..

Sounds like you have plugged into the 'center & sub-woofer' socket :-)

Sub-woofer Malfunction

sub can be detecting signal from your amp. maybe your amp has some small output when in standby mode. some amps throughput signal from satellite boxes when they are supposed to be off.
try shutting off that signal source as well.
good luck
