Belt is too loose and probably needs to be replaced.

I have a 2012 top loading frigidaire gallery washer. It recently started making a loud thumping noise during the wash cycle. When it spins out it smells like burnt rubber. Any ideas? Thanks

There is a rubber belt between the motor and the rotating cylinder.
If it is frayed, then part of the belt is hitting something during the "wash" cycle, and rubbing much faster during the "spin" cycle.
Replace the belt.

Hello Marjorie, thank you for your post!

From the information you have provided water will fill, drain and spin but your Frigidaire washer is not agitating. This could be a problem with your motor, belt, or pulley. Locating the problem is not a simple DIY job and I would suggest seeking assistance from a professional. They have the appropriate tools needed to disassemble your washer and prevent any future issues. I hope this information is helpful to some degree. -Matt

Heavy Duty Super Capacity will spin but will not drain.

Pump may no be engaged, broken belt or clogged pump or defective pump. Easiest way to tell is to prop the unit up but keep it level. Put a mirror on floor under pump area, inspect belt to make sure its not broken. Inspect pump many are clear plastic so you can see any blockages. If looks OK, then put unit through wash cycle. Watch as it gets to the end of the wash cycle (good flashlight helps to direct the light where you need it) to see if belt is spinning and if pump is actually turning etc. I usually put a piece of 4 x 4 front to back under 2 feet on each side. Just make sure not to let tf slip off and don't put hands etc, under while its running.

Frigidaire Gallery washer won't produce final high spin

Hey friend, thank you for your post!
I see that your Frigidaire washer, FWT449GFS2 is not entering the final high spin cycle. It is possible that you could have a defective motor or timer. Since it could be any one of these underlying issues I would recommend you having a professional come out to the home for the repair of your washer. -Matt

During the spin cycles in the wash the machine makes a loud whining noise while spinning? As soon as the cycle is finished the problem goes away. Is this a faulty belt or what. Please help.

Either the belt or you transmission could be slipping and it making the belt work harder on a full load. Try running the spin cycle without water to see if you hear it. If you do then it is the belt, but if you only hear with water then it is your transmission.

Agitator does NOT spin along w/ drum during spin cycle

If this is the old style that uses a belt, it is not worth fixing. But the problem sounds like the wig-wam is not functioning properly. Most of the time it was a wire broken since it moves back and forth constantly.

Spider arm to the washer drum is broken. Parts is expensive and labor to repairs will cost you more than if you just go out and buy a new washer. Sorry for the bad news.

Heavy Duty Speed Queen top loader, HA 4011-3062, with a slow spin

I have a related problem and I just learned on the net that the Vbelt is supposed to slip in "idle" mode while the water pump will do more work.
It is also supposed to slip slightly while speeding the spinning up so as to not cause motor overload.A kind of half clutch function that allows for slipping. This slipping is controlled by the tensioner.

My guess is that your machine's v belt slips too much and thus does not spin fast enough. You replaced the belts, I would look at the tensioner now.
