Drum is spinning during spin cycle, but drum is not emptying.

Water pump is not working because:
  • The inlet is clogged with lint
  • The pump drive is broken.
  • The discharge hose is plugged or crimped.

How do I check the belts or springs holding the washer tub

to check the belt or Air shock , its easy to remove the rear access panel , you can have a look for shock and motor & belt but there are a lot of reason for your complaint for doesn't spin out water and noisy when spinning it may be have kinked in the drain hose or the spin start before pumping water out properly leads to load unevenly distributed in the movement of the drum, so i believe that your problem in pumping the water out. Possible that there is no free movement of the spindle and drive. You must check for the free movement manually with you hand- switch off power when doing so.
If the spindle is tight then the assembly must be removed and reset.
Check the action of the brakes, if this holding on you can remove to test and then reset. check the motor movement.

Machine won't spin or pump out water when loaded but will spin when empty

It is possible that the belt has worn out and is slipping with LOAD and so must be inspected.
Also check the movement of the motor and drum spindle which must not have any friction. If so you need to oil and lubricate to free the movement.
This must solve the issue.
Thank you for using Fixya.

I had a clog in the pump filter, pump assembly fine cleared it all, now the drum is knocking in the spin mode and there is water leaking, not from pump. I read about the counter weights, the shocks seem...

This can be related to a tightness in the spindle shaft that makes the motor spin the whole drum together. so this also seems to be the leak in the system. So check the shaft, the bearing assembly the water seal in the drum shaft.
You might have to reset and overhaul this section for the fault to clear off.
If the shocks are good the counter weights should work fine unless there is a mechanical damage on the chassis.

Washing fine but is only spinning slowly and when finshed washing is still wet and some water still in barrel it has been spinning very noisely for weeks but decided to turn the radio up so i couldn't hear...

Water left in the drum could indicate a blockage in the outlet pipes or pump, could also be a faulty pump but this is to be checked after looking for a blockage. May be spinning slower due to the water that is being left in the drum as it will create extra weight against the motor.
If just a blockage once cleared it should spin back to life.

Won'i\t spin or agitate. was working fine-went

if agitator movement is weak or moves in only one direction check the following:

  • Inspect the agitator
  • Inspect the motor coupler
  • Inspect the drive belt(belt drive only)
  • Inspect under the washer for soot (clutch)
  • Test the motor
  • Inspect the pulley
  • Test the transmission
  • Inspect the pump coupling
If drum does not spin check this:

  • Test the lid switch
  • Test the timer control
  • Test the centrifugal switch
  • Test the water level switch
  • Inspect the motor coupler
  • Inspect the drive belt (belt drive only)
  • Inspect under the washer for soot (clutch)
  • Test the motor
  • Inspect the pulley
  • Test the transmission

Good luck !!!

WMA54 Hotpoint Aquarius drum does not turn during wash or spin

If the machine pumps water inside but does not start :

Start checking the lid switch, if this is stuck the machine wont start.

If the drum does not move at all, the motor, the motor control unit, the motor coupler, the control board may be faulty.

For more details , see: It doesn't spin
