Question about Dometic Rooftop RV Air Conditioner

1 Answer

RV AIR CONDITIONER

I HAVE 2 DOMESTIC DUO-THERM A/C'S AFTER SITTING FOR 2 WEEKS OR SO THE FAN MOTORS WILL NOT COME ON. TO FIX THIS I HAVE TO GET ON THE ROOF, TURN THE FAN BLADES WITH THE AWNING ROD AND EVERYTHING IS FINE FOR A WHILE. CAN THIS BE REPAIRED OR SHOULD I REPLACE THE MOTORS WITH NEW/ DIFFERENT PRODUCTS?
THANKS

I have a 2yr old Starcraft trailer and the Dometic air conditioner does the same thing. The problem is there are no oil cups on the fan motor to oil.

Check the end of the fan motor for oil holes. They may have colored plastic plugs in them or aluminum plugs. If your motor has plugs on each end of the motor you can oil the bearings with SAE20 non detergent oil. Add 7-10 good sized drops of oil to each end. It takes time for the oil to work through the wicking to the bearings.

My mechanic wants to know how to add freon to my duo-Therm by domestic. Model# 57916-531 It turns on and fan blows but there is no cool air. Where can I get a manual I never received one.

mcdevito75 here, You can contact the units name online. Rechage your self may not be possible as special tools are needed, plus buying the gas would need a license to buy the gas (Freon). Check with your local A/C repair shop.

Motor still runs after cool air stops coming out

See if helping the fan turn will get it going thrn let it run awhile.. The fan motors rake a set if not used often enough.
