On my kenmore dryer 970-c82062-00 I can get all 3 timers to start but the heated automatic dry portion does not time out.

that model number doesn't come up,you sure that isn't the serial number?also does the dryer have heat, when you run it on time dry the timer just counts down like a clock, when on auto or more or less the heat comes on until the dryer heats to temp. the heat shuts off and the timer will advance, when the heat comes back on the timer stops moving,it will do this until the clothes are dry,if you do have heat you could have a bad sensor or a bad cycling thermostat but you'll have to check it with a meter.send the model number and i can help you better.

Dryer does not automatically shut off on auto mode. It will run continuosly. I see on the scematic there is 2 thermostats. any suggestions?

Is the dryer taking a long time to dry even in a timed cycle? Twice as long as usual? If so, replace the elements. (one coil of the 2 coil element set is likely burnt out. Some models just happen to need that working to feed power to the timer motor in the auto cycle)

The dryer will not shut off automatically. It would run forever if I let it. It also takes a very long time to dry the clothes. As if it's not heating them properly.

Hi there,

Well first of all you may try running the dryer with the vent hose removed. A slow vent will cause what you're describing. Then you'll need to look at the cycling thermostat. That is the part that tells the timer to advance. It sends a signal to the timer when the proper temp is achieved in the drum. Means when the element cycles off the timer motor moves a little bit. When it cools down and the element comes back on the timer stops. This action takes place when you're using one of the auto cycles.
If you have a slow vent it can cause the high limit thermostat to do the cycling. Please let us know for further help or information.....

Good Luck!!

Thanks for using FixYa!!

Amana dryer not advancing on auto

Make sure the vent from the dryer to the outside is clean.
Reduced air flow can cause your symptom.

You can remove the vent hose from the dryer and operate the dryer in the automatic cycle.'
If the timer advances you know the vent needs cleaning.
Clean the lint filter housing also.
A flashlight helps to see all the way down the housing.

Gas dryer continues to run on the Auto cycle.

try to get the manual for the dryer you got and locate the moisture sensor if this sensor is bad what happen is that the automatic timer thinks that the clothes still wet and continues to dry once the sensor detects no moisture then it shut off the dryer normally is located behind the dryer on the exit line of the air duct and tested for conductivity and see if is good or not
