The standby red light was on. I pushed the power button on the remote and the red light went out, but nothing came on. Also it did not return to standby. I unplugged the unit and plugged it back in and the red standby was on again. I got the same result for about 3 tries. I mainly use it for a monitor for my XBox 360.
Thank you for the solution. I open the back of the set (basically take the whole set apart), and I found that the main capacitor was blown. I was able to lift it out by hand, so apparently it was not very well put together. When I took it to a tv repair shop they were shocked at the size and power of the capacitor. Said they had never seen one like that in a tv before. And they also said if that one went bad, there had to be other smaller ones blown. I decided to just give the piece of junk to them to play with. I have a much better set now and have washed my hands of this piece of junk.
Open the back of the TV,and look at the can shaped items on the boards. If any of them have the tops,or bottoms bulged out, they need to be replaced. This should get it working again.I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please let me know.Thank You very much!

Thirst thing to try is take the batterys out of the remote and push all of the buttons to get any electric static for say 3 to 5 minutes if that don't work try to see if your remote signal works by using your iphone and take a few photos of the remote beam when pressing ,or the remote in the tv might have gone. Ps happened to me
Samsung told me this was a common problem and I would have to have it serviced by an authorized repair facility. My problem ended up being the internal power supply, but they also told me the main boards burn up.
It clearly has a problem not allowing it to come on---the set has a warranty---take it back and either get an exchange---Most major stores will exchange in first 30 days for any reason---if they give you the "it has to go for repair," demand a refund on the spot.
Frankly Emerson is not a very good quality brand and parts and support are nearly zero.
Are you getting a standby light at all? Is it flashing? Do you here a click when you plug the unit in? If the answer is no to all of these then you blew a fuse. If you do have soome sort of standby light, then your set is in protect mode. More than likely for a blown channel. If no lights, but you ar egetting a click, you could have a bad transformer. Use a DVM and see if it is open or not. Good luck
I have a Sony SRS BBE Trinitron (WEGA). The last few days when I tried to turn it on using the remote the Red Light would go on but the TV did not turn on. I would have to press the power button again to turn it on.. I tought the remote battery was just low.
Today when I tried to turn it on nothing is happening and the Red Light is blinking 9 times ??? I tried to unplug it and try it again, still does the same thing ???
It seems to respond to power supply, send it to a nearby technician. The problem might be it fused the picture power supply fuse. make sure the installation is at you presence.
