I just bought two new belts at Grainger, their stock number is Dayton 1DHH5. This is for 3/8" belts. I don't know what the originals were, they were so far gone! I think a 1/2" belt would work too. Industry P/N for the belts would be 100XL037 for the 3/8", and 100XL050 for 1/2". It's a 10" belt, with 5 teeth/inch.

I could not locate this on grainger, nor could they. I would appreciate any help, and would like to know the price.

  • Tom DeSmit Jul 19, 2012

I don't see how they could not locate it, if you go to Grainger.com and type this in the search engine "1DHH5", it finds it immediately. Here's a link to try:http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/sea...

  • Tom DeSmit Jul 19, 2012

I just tried the link after posting, and it took me right to it. If you are trying to get this at a local Grainger store, print out the Grainger product page and take it in. If that fails, tell them to get someone else to come to the counter!

  • Tom DeSmit Jul 19, 2012

Oh, and I paid 4.93/ea, and got two. I did buy this using my employer's name, so I may have gotten a small discount, but not much.

  • Benny Ewing Jul 23, 2012

I could not locate this in the Grainger web site. My guy at Ace Hardware called Grainger and theysaid thycould not locate it under those part no's either. One webite said it was available as p/n 1907109, but I lost him beforeIould ask where. Any help would be appreciated, as I am new at using these contraptions.

I FINALLY GOT A PHONE NO. FOR GRAINGER IN SAN ANTONIO AND CALLED USING THE PART NO'S. I HAD BEEN GIVEN AND THEY SAID THEY HAD TWO IN STOCK, AND WOULD SEND THEM RIGHT AWAY. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Glad to hear you finally got a hold of someone with at least half a brain. That's sad when they can't find a part when you give them their part number!

My Bosch 18V planer 53518 just stopped working. Worked fine one day, picked it up the next day, nothing!! Batteries fine, checked belts, etc. I see no problem. Any suggestions?

Did you ever figure this out? Mine just did the same thing. Fresh battery. Pulled trigger. Started to run, then just stopped. Don't know if it's the switch, motor or something else.

Mike, is the piece that you put the 1/2" drive rachet in rotated all the way back toward the motor? If so It sounds like you're loading against pressure. I would check to make sure the blow down valve is working correctly. We need to release the pressure before we load again. Also the minimum pressure check valve could be stuck in a mostly closed position. this would allow pressure to built instantly and cause the belt to slip. If you would send me the model and serial # I will take a closer look.

My Makita 2012 planer 'skips' making a 'machine gun' sound and the wood won't feed through. I think it's the 'plane bearings', but I'm not sure. Does this sound right?

Have you cleaned your rollers? I must admit, I'm having this problem with my 2012NB, I HAVE cleaned the rollers (with ethanol), and have taken the side covers off, and the drive chain and gears look just fine, as does the primary drive belt. I ran the planer with the covers off, and although the gears and belt seem fine, the planer still skips (or slips). I think probably your blade is dull, creating drag (I replaced mine not long ago, but have been planing a lot of rough lumber). I still haven't gotten to the bottom of it, but I think the rollers are slipping, I just don't know why yet.

Motor runs, collet doesn't turn

get a hot glue gun and go to your local hardware store and buy a piece of tubing to fit the collet shaft fill with hot glue and press it on the shaft.
