Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

I have a peavey 1500 amp. It is a few years old but still should work. The last time i used it it worked fine! I had it in its padded case and dropped it like maybe two 3 feet! it was a straight down drop and it wasnt a bad fall! Now it wont power up at all.. I took it apart and checked the fuse and one fuse was broke. I replaced the fuse and still no luck! everything inside looks fine nothing broke.. any ideas what to check? Or who fixes things like this in Omaha NE

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Old age has finally caught up with both myself and your vintage Peavey. Things like shorted diodes and transistors sometimes do not physically give themselves away, Also, many times it takes a trained eye to discern the components that have failed in a more discrete manner. It's either repair shop or replacement time which I recommend the latter.

Suspect that the pot is broken, or start cleaning all the back switches, this pv amps suffer from a terrible switch quality.

One out of the two microphones is intermittent.

Hi Ken....

I just fixed one of those but not for the same issue.

The manual is on the peavey site (archived)

That will tell you if there's a VOX ckt inside.

If opening the case doesnt scare you, open it ( UNPLUGGED) and reseat the ICs(integrated curcuits) that are socketed

PV 2600, couple years old, light usage. Connected to two PV SP3K speakers. One channel started to cutout somewhat but not all the way, Switched a few input cables, swapped L&R. Then whole amp shutdown....

Hi..

I've worked on similar units.
Things I'd check first :
Dust in the unit.
Weak solder connections /crusty debris stuff on the input jacks or output terminals
Any flex cables soldered in tend to be a problem on peavey amps I resolder all those contacts.
Checking the amp w/o a load IS NOT a good suggestion.
What style output connections are you using?
1/4 inch, binding post, or Neutrik style?

No sound - peavey bravo 112

I'm assuming that no sound applies to both the clean and ultra modes. You didn't say which tubes you replaced but I'm guessing the input tube was not replaced. Did you keep the old tubes? When "no sound comes out", do you hear any kind of a low level hum on the speaker output? I think the front end tube is open or the switch logic switch is defective. Hope this helps.
