Filter Removal Procedures HV2730B/HV2736B

The manual that came with the unit says to remove and wash the filters, but it doesn't give a procedure of how to do that. How do I get to the Filters to clean them? They need cleaning as they are starting to smell.

I want to change the filter on my broan 42000-k range hood. filter number 97006931, never done it before. help?

Look at this exploded view:

http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/hvac/broan/423601.html

Part number 11 is a retainer clip.

Here is the instruction manual:

http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/content/pdfs/137548-2.pdf

Page five, illustration 13, shows that the retainer clip is turned 90 degrees to release the filter, turned back to retain the replacement.

Here's a cut and paste of the manual:

"FILTERS
40000, 42000 & 42000D Hoods Only:
Remove aluminum filter by turning filter retainer to
one side. (FIG. 13) Filter should be washed once a
month in a hot detergent solution. Aluminum filters
are dishwasher safe. When installing filter, make sure
that filter slides under retaining tabs on back of fan
housing. Turn filter retainer so that arrows on retainer
point toward front and back of hood."

How can you manually open the Kitchen Aid KIRD861HSS?

By removing the decorative cover plate you somewhat expose the units inner workings. Carefully, insert a small sharp object into the unit at the point in which the micro-switch(es) are exposed. The micro-switch(es) will appear as small little plastic tabs that are poking out. While simultaneously depressing the power button, insert the sharp object into the micro-switch(es) closing the circuit. The down draft will raise enough to the point in which you can re-seat or install the filter thus making it operational.

How do I clean filters?

If they are paper hoods they you can buy replacements. If they are the metal wire type then they can be washed with warm soapy water. Some filters can be cleaned in a dish washer but please check with manufacturer.

I require a circuit diagram for the electonic controls of a Robinhood 9000 series rangehood

The Link Below will take you to their website archive page. You will need the exact model number, with all numbers and letters, from the plate on the unit (Probably inside the vent filter). Click on "Please select a model" and choose your model from the drop-down list and three links will appear. One will be the "Parts and Service Manual PDF" Clicking on this link will give you the wiring Diagram.

Good Luck

Kitchen Hood

Hi absimp,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your question is: You are having trouble cleaning your downdraft hood...you are able to remove filters and clean but there seems to be grease build on the hood as well....The smell is really bad but you can't get down in the hood to clean. Is there anyway to remove the hood in order to clean it better??

The short answer is; not really. But don't be dicouraged yet, you shouldn't have to . There is a brush on a long handle that looks like the kind of brush you would use to wash a glass. I wrap the brush part with a small cloth that is wet with cleaner and just use from above rinsing the cloth as nessessary. If you have trouble finding a brush long enough just go to a plumbing supply and buy a brush made for cleaning the soot out of a boiler. If they know your problem they weill be happy to help.

Feel free contact me again!

Problem: Won't stay on!

Skip, best guess...either the motor is bad or there is a circuit breaker in the unit which is popping. With the power off, open the unit and try to turn the fan by hand. If it turns hard, the motor is shot. If not, find that breaker and get a new one. They do wear out. You'll probably find it in the housing. They are often small boxes with a wire going in and another going out leading to the fan motor.

Unit will sometimes not turn on

NASCAR...I'm thinking more like the switch. If you can, with the power off gain access to the switch wiring. find the lead that goes to the power and the motor. Connect them directly (you might need a paper clip). Tape it all up securely and fire up the power. If it works...you will know about the switch...if not, you might look at the motor. By the way...check that motor rotation...it should turn easily when you give it a spin. Motors of the type used in fans generally don't degrade in performance unless they get gummed up with kitchen grease. Clean the grease off with WD 40.

Help

Is this the one with the slide power unit? If so, the slider could be defective. First, have a look at the slider....is it full of gunk? If so, you might be able to clean it out. With the power off, get some brake cleaner from the local auto supply guy. Spray it liberally into the slider and move it around...The dripage will be messy. Put a bunch of paper toweling under it to catch the stuff. It is not flammable but you should wait for it to dry for a few minutes before restoring power. Still with the power off and the motor/fan exposed...does it turn easily? If not, you may have an issue there. Gunk or bad bearings. Fix that up.
