Well, the cost of replacement could be quite cheap if you know how to do it yourself. there are tons of video on youtube that you can take reference from. as for getting the parts, get it here:

Usually, yes, the LCD is covered under the warranty. If not, it could cost around $400 to fix.

I dropped my Asus eee pc 1001px laptop and now the right side of my screen is covered in multicolored vertical lines. What might the problem be, other than the fact that I'm clumsy?

Your LCD panel is cracked. It needs to be replaced. Generally physical damage to LCD panels is not covered under warranty by manufacturers, so you are better off going to a PC repair shop and have them order the replacement screen for you. If you are comfortable taking apart the system you should be able to find a replacement screen on ebay.

We have a cracked lcd moniter. It is for an Acer Aspire 5315 15.4". How much would a repair like that cost?

Hi,

As per Acer repair policy, cracked screen is not covered under standard warranty. They will charge you $199 inorder to replace the screen. However, if know any local retailer or tech you can consult with them.

Thanks and regards,

Dropped my HP notebook and cracked the LCD screen

Hello and thank you for using Fixya's services.

You can order a new screen (new or used) from eBay and just switch out (simple process and you can find a replacement for under 50 dollars on eBay). You can get assistance with this from the manufacturers website and pull specs for free.

Please let me know if you have any questions and I will be glad to assist.

Cracked HP Laptop Screen

Cracked displays are never coverd by normal warranty. Unless HP is aware of an issue on your model where this happens by itself, the service will not be coverd by warranty. You might want to check if you have any insurance that might cover it.

The LCD can be replaced, althogh it is usually quite costly(depending on the model). You can either send it in for service or do it yourself. If you dont have any experience with opening laptops I would recommend you send it in for service because of the weak plastic in the displayassembly that brake easily.

If you do want to replace it yourselfe I can find you the partnumber for the part. But im going to need the modelnumber from under the machine. It should look something like this AA111BB#CCC.

Cracked HP laptop LCD

under warranty if it is a defect from manufacture or if you bought extended warranty from retailer, some policy's cover damage. Only covered if policy is still within time of purchase.

If it is not covered it will be cheaper to replace computer than repair.

You can search here for warranty from manufacture.

Hope your covered. Please rate if this fixed you. Good luck!

Tx1320us cracked lcd

Hello,

If you can elaborate on the exact issue, I will surely try to help.

FYI,

As TX1320us is new notebook, I guess it is one year below model and it should be under warranty.

If you have any issues with the screen, then you can get replacement from HP.

If it is accidental damage, then it won't be covered under warranty. If you have purchased Accidental Damage Package from HP, then all broken and other damages will be covered ADP.

Anyhow, reply if you need any information in this regard.

I will be happy to answer.

LCD screen

Probably not as a cracked display usually results from dropping or sitting something heavy on the unit.

If it just cracked under normal use, then this would be a defect and it should be covered under your warranty. The only sure way to know is to take it in and try your best to convince them that this is covered under your warranty.

FYI, the warranty is probably from the manufacturer, unless you got some extended warranty through Best Buy? Otherwise the stores responsibility varies from state to state.

Laptop hinges

As far as the warranty coverage from Best Buy goes, it's a lot better than just what the manufacturer offers when you buy the unit. When you purchase the laptop, the sales associate is taught to offer you warranties of various dollar amounts depending on model. Some of these are standard PSP warranties (called PSP, or Performance Service Plan) and cover additional causes of damage such as heat, electicity, humidity, and dust. There is also a higher level warranty which Best Buy has offered for the past 2-3 years called an ADH warranty (or Accidental Handling) and it included the coverage of the PSP, as well as damage due to liquid spills (see: minor, not immersion) as well as damage caused by impacts.

This is where the job of a Geeksquad Technician can get complicated. We have to use our better judgment, experience of prior repairs, and best observational abilities to be able to help our customers with the correct response. If we just accept a laptop regardless of condition for repairs regardless of what type of warranty coverage exists, the Service Center has the ability to perform no repairs to the unit because warranty coverage does not apply to the nature of the damage. Then they will retroactively charge the customer a deposit fee, roughly between $24.95 and $112.95 depending on the unit...And this is just to be in receipt of their old unit, un-repaired. That is a situation we attempt to avoid at all costs to avoid causing grief and misery for waiting 2 weeks and have zero repair work performed for a customer.

So, now that I have explained their policies a bit better, let me help determine how you can have your laptop fixed.

Check your receipt carefully (Best Buy can reprint you a copy if yours is lost or hard to read). Search for the letters PSP on the bill of sale, and determine if the letters ADH are immediately next to them. This would offer you the maximum level of coverage for warranty repair.

If the Geeksquad technician viewed your lapotp's hinges and felt that it was damage caused by an impact or through normal wear and tear, it would not be covered by anything less than an ADH plan. I would suggest trying one of the following solutions:

1: Returning to the technician and asking him to send it to service as-is, with the intention of receiving an estimate from the vendor and pursing repair from a licensed repair technician.

2: Calling the manufacturer up directly, identifying the product and part, and inquiring as to the cost of a replacement plastic top lcd cover (you would be surprised at how expensive the manufacturer can quote these for). Then once you have ordered it from them you can return to Geeksquad iand have them install it for you (if you have previously determined they have a technician capable of performing that service and has adequate tools). Often times they will give you a discount on installation services due to the fact that you had purchased a warranty from them originally and they were unable to assist with the repairs prior.

3: Return to best Buy and have them pro-rate refund the extension of your PSP and use that amount to pay for shipping and deposit through the manufacturer, having them assist you with continued repairs.

Hope that helped.
