Setting up my laptop to work with my netgear router
I had to empty my laptop due to viruses and now I can't get on to the internet. My wired desktop works fine so its just some set up in the laptop that is not right. When I access the control panel, my network connections for LAN connection have an x through it.

Have you opened Internet Options, Connections tab, Lan settings, Check Auto Detect. OR release and renew your IP address : http://www.wikihow.com/Refresh-Your-IP-Address-on-a-Windows-Computer Is your wireless adapter enabled? Drivers up-to-date? in working order? Have you run the diagnose in Manage Network Connections. What is your Anti Virus? Try connecting with it disabled?
Check to see if the LAN card is enabled and working. If not install the LAN card driver. If the LAN driver is working then go to Control Panel - Network Connections - right click on the LAN card then click on Properties, then check the TCP/IP settings of the LAN card, Tick Obtain an IP address automatically and tick Obtain an DNS server address automatically. Then you will be able to connect to the Internet.
>in order for you not to have more problems at all >first, ask AT&T to set your motorola modem to BRIDGED MODE first >then, connect your Netgear router to the modem >connect the desktop computer to the router and check you connection >after you got the desktop computer connected to the internet >try to establish connection to your wireless network using your laptops (Laptops cannot connect to Motorola modem since it doesn't have wireless capability like routers)
>comments suggestions ratings and violent reactions will greatly be appreciated thank you...
These are some reasons why your new Hp laptop can't connect through your Netgear Router is because your Router has a security that used a password to connect to your router or the ip address of your desktop and Dell laptop is already setup to the router to work with internet.
instead of using the disc you can set up the router manually. is there any other computer which is able to go online using this router ? If you have other computers working then you will not need to set up the router again. Click Here for more info about the routers
I understand that you want to connect the PS3 using the Wireless card and NETGEAR card. Please note that the setup you have will not work for internet access. You can not configure the Air card to work with NETGEAR router. you need to have wih a broadband connection available for this router to connect to internet.
Once you have the router configured with Internet access then you may either connect the PS3 wired or wireless to the router, like you connect a desktop or laptop to the router.
Hello....sudden loss of wireless on two computers, in the same home, may indicate that a powerful source of wireless interference has just arrived (since your wireless router light is still on).
1) Does the signal improve if you move the router, or move the laptop closer to the router?
2) Have you had any success with changing the channel on your router? (Login to router > select Wireless Settings > Channel)
If you have not moved furniture yourself, or installed a device which could interfere with the signal (eg a DECT phone), it's possible a neighbour's new router may be the culprit.
try this plug up a line to laptop to modem to check to see if you can get connected if so then make sure you are on the same network and if so then call comcast to help you setup the laptop wireless settings in sound like the settings online doesn't have the laptop enable to accept the laptop
