GE free standing 3200 Dishwasher MD607108A

We just came back from vacation and tried to run our dishwasher. We turned it on and all we can hear is a low hum. My husband kinda played with it and it will intake water. Actually the bottom tub is full of water now. Our manual suggested that it is due to lack of use??? We were only gone a week. Also we read something about the garbage disposal being clogged but the manual does not tell us where that is?

Any help you could offer would be great.
Thank you,

Had the same problem after not using the dishwasher for a few weeks and managed to solve it.

GE knows about this and has a solution posted at:

Basically, some motor seals dry out and stick. You need to pour some vinegar or citric acid inside the dishwasher to help release them. I poured vinegar (without diluting it) into the dishwasher and waited 30 minutes. This didn't help so I went on to order citric acid online
By the time the citric acid arrived the vinegar that was left inside for a few days did the work. It is now working fine.

My dishwasher is not running when you turn the knob it will open and close the detergent

The soap dispenser is openned mechanically by the movement of the knob by the timer. So even when it is unplugged the soap dispenser will open if you turn the knob. Try a different plug. Otherwise check the cord. Next you would check the power supply inside.

Can my GE nautilus dishwasher be converted from free standing to installed

I would try the manufacturers website for a list of accessories.
Most will integrate by removing the kick-panel and adding a cover over the door, but it is best to check before going ahead.

Can we take this free standing dishwasher and make it into a built in dishwasher? if yes how do you do it?

Yes, but only if it's a convertible type made to install under a countertop. If it is, the top unscrews and the wheels pull out of the bottom very easily. There is a conversion kit available for the hose lines at GE.

Dishwasher not working

It is probably the fill valve on your dishwasher that is bad. It is hooked up to the water supply and has a plug with a couple wires.

If this is bad your dishwasher will not fill.

Losing water pressure in pump?

Shellybabe, these GE dishwasher pumps have a habit of sticking when not in use for a while. It sounds like you have been washing but not good. If you remove the toe panel (lower) you will see the pump motor in the center. If the vanes in the back center of the motor turn freely, your pump is not stuck. If they wont turn, put pressure on them until the pump frees up. You also want to make sure that the fill valve is letting in enough water. The water should be just below the heating element after the initial fill. If you are not sure try adding 2 addition quarts of water to the machine after the initial fill and see if the circulation is better. Remember to unplug or kill the power to the dishwasher when checking the motor back.
