Maytag M7DH45B2A - Fan Motor

The unit powers up, everything works except the3 fan won't turn on. Is this a fuse problem as the motor doesn't appear to have anything wrong with it. I took the back panel of the unit off and all the connections are in place. Thanks.

The fan blades turn just fine. I even took the motor apart and it's clean. All the wires are connected, the fuse is fine, the compressor works and all the bells and whistles work; it's just that the fan motor will not turn. What could be the problem? Thanks.

Hi,
The fan motors do occasionally get clogged up with fluff - especially if the machine has been operated without the filter screen installed. Also it is possible that some foreign object has fallen into the motor and is jamming it.

With the power off, check to see if the blower will turn when poked with a long plastic pointy thing :-)

If these suggestions do help you solve the problem, please give my reply a rating to help others judge my knowledge / guessing skills.
If they do not, please hold off on the rating and add a comment with more details so I can try to help you further. Cheers, D

The problem is most likely the thermal fuse inside the moor. It is attached to the black wire inside the wrapping in the motor.

Don't run the compressor for any length of time without the fan operating. Is it possible that the fan must be replaced? Can you power the fan safely to test it?

The unit has power, all controls work. The machine "turns on" when the humidity level exceeds the level set. However, the fan or wheel or whatever it's called does not turn. I took apart the unit and...

I have the exact same problem. I've isolated it to the thermal fuse for the fan motor. This can be confirmed by jumping the black wire to the blue wire coming from the fan motor while the unit is running. Only problem I have is I haven't been able to locate the fuse yet.

Fan motor making squeaking noise; sounds like bushing failure.

Location of Maytag M7DH45B2A motor fuse

I'm fixing one of these too. Take the top off (follow the AC cord) and the fuse is on the PCB.

I am also looking for a better wiring diagram - the control panel on mine does not light up.

Hi,
I can't imagine why a >thermal< fuse would be insulated as I thought they were designed to melt when the ambient temperature exceeded the stated value
There are some pics of typical thermal fuses here :-
http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38&_nkw=thermal+fuse
I also have difficulty imagining why they would out such a component in a fan motor assembly - it's not the sort of thing that usually catches fire!
Equally, a non-thermal filament type fuse would normally be placed where it could be seen and replaced. I would expect it to be mounted on a pcb - soldered in, perhaps, but in an obvious place.
We are not allowed to exchange emails via fixya.com, but if you wanted to upload that schematic to senduit.com, and then post the download link here, perhaps I could take a look at the schematic myself.
Sorry this is taking so long to sort out!
Cheers, D.

Dehumidifier Maytag M7DH45B2A Fan Motor

Hi,
It gets a little tricky from here! If it were mine, and with my experience - I would try to measure for power going to the motor, but that may involve more dismantling. Dangerous voltages are likely to be present so don't attempt this if you are not qualified to do so! If there is power going to it, then logically the motor is defective. If there isn't , then it points to the control circuitry. In the former case a new motor might get you going again - if you can find one; if there is no power going to it then the fault lies elsewhere. If you are very lucky it might just be a dead relay on the pcb. Beyond that point I have learned over the years that some things are just not designed to be fixable :-( The pcb may have been made years ago in a factory on the other side of the world and we consumers are just expected to go out and consume a new one dehumidifier.

Hope this helps a little bit. D

The fan fell apart on my M7DH45B2A and I was wondering how to find a part number for the fan to order a new one.

ApplianceFactoryparts.com has the replacement part for the "squirrel cage" for the motor or "fan". Use the Model number to find the parts.
