Belt broken - Whirlpool Dryers

The belt is probably broken. Their is a broken belt switch which keeps the main wire winding from working if the belt is broken. To check for broken belt open the door and remove the screws holding down the top. Remove the top, then take the front off and inspect that puppy. Here is my crappy video:

Belt was broken, so I had to go inside the motor assembly -- torx screws all the way. The problem is finding a replacement belt without buying a whole new power drive.

Are you replacing a broken timing belt? Or are you replacing a belt because it's due by miles? If the belt is broken, i strongly suggest inspecting for bent valves. Daewoo is notorious for bending all valves and breaking valve guides in the cylinder head when the timing belt breaks. The broken belt is also common.

broken belt or broken broken belt switch most likely. Open the door. Hold in the door switch and push the start button. Does the drum turn? If it does turn then the broken belt micro switch is where I would look first. If the drum don't turn of course I would replace the broken belt.
The only Kenmore dryer that has a broken belt switch is the 4 wheel drive model. Here is a video which shows how to get into this dryer and replace the belt:

as long as the water pump, alternator, are working properly. but if it has just one serpintine belt that drives all things it must be replaced. before running. if only the ac belt, it is ok to drive if it has its own belt that is broken.

a dryer will not turn if the belt has fallen off the motor or if it has been broken    replace the belt

motor running but drum not turning, good chance drum drive belt is broken or has jumped off drive pully.

UNPLUG POWER CORD TO DRYER.
open dryer and look for broken belt, if belt is broken use modle number from dryer to purchas the correct belt for dryer install belt and reasmbele dryer. reconect power and test dryer.
