My Akai LCT2785TA is doing the exact same thing!!! It is less than a year old!!! All I get is the red light on the front, and when I try to turn it on it flashes quickly and I hear a clicking sound like it wants to come on but does'nt. I have been reading similar inquiries about this same problem and they suggest something about the "power supply". Please help. Thanks, Tom.

red lcd light flashes but wont turn green and doesnt power up makes anoise like it wants to.unplugged it for about a week still wont come,tv is two years old

Exactly the same issue here with my Akai. It's about 18 months old.
    Did anyone find a solution?

Same thing. POS Tv! It's a year old and at first it would take a couple tries to turn on, then longer and longer. Now sometimes it doesn't turn on at all.

I heard unplugging it and hitting the power button should reset it, so I'm trying that right now, I just don't know how long it takes.

I saw on another page that there were tons of faulty capacitators (power supply) manufactured from 2003-2005 and that could be the source of early failure in a lot of electronics. It looks like many owners are having trouble with this set.

If you're handy with tools you can try to fix it yourself, one man describes how he did it here:http://www.fixya.com/support/t846110-won...

Unfortunately, I'm in college and don't have all those supplies at the ready. I also got the TV as a gift, so no warranty here.

If anyobdy comes up with an inexpensive or genius solution, e-mail me sanguine612@aim.com

    Thanks! And good luck!

TV is about 1 year old and now will not power up. Red light flashes and a sound can be heard like it is trying to come on. I have found that unplugging it and waiting onlyh for the red light to go out and then plugging back in then hitting the power button has worked to get power back (at least for now). It seems obvious there should be a manufacturer's recall based on complaints here and other web sites.

You do know that this model TV takes about 5-10 seconds to come on after you press the on button, right?

Press it once to get the green LED, then wait. If it doesn't display the blue AKAI splash screen within 15 seconds, the TV is not working as it should.

Also remember that this model has two RF input jacks. As seen from the back of the TV, the jack on the far right is the one to use for analog TV, analog cable, coax out to TV from a cable box, or rf out from a vcr.

Don't use the one on the far left. It is for input to the ATSC OTA DTV tuner only.

Most likely there is a real problem with your TV, but in the video, you are pressing the on/off button in rapid succession. That will never work with this model.

How do I fix akai TV model #lct2785ta? TV screen remains blank and black, after I power it on.

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

AKAI 27 Model #LCT2785TA

The message you are seeing means that the tv is not receiving a signal from the source. Try hooking up a different source such as a DVD player or a Cable Box to that same input on the tv. If you have picture and sound then the problem is with the original source. If that does not work then you have a bad Main bd.

Need setup codes for Akai KC01-B2 to run with comcast remote

I recently bought a used LCT2060 that had no remote. I figured my comcast cable remote would work without a problem but it didn't. So 3 universal remotes later I found my solution...a radio shack2_bing.gif universal gamer remote. It controls up to 5 components plus your xbox360, playstation and pc. The price on sale was a mere 12.97, not bad if you ask me. Hope this helped. The code that worked for the Akai2_bing.gif was 11676. Take care...
