Error messages: U150 + Ink tank errors have occured

Hi I have two error messages. 1st on the display screen of my canon IP 6700D which says - U 150 The following ink tank cannot be recognised. 2nd on computer screen running xp - Ink tank errors have occured. Open the printer cover & replace the ink tanks on which ink lamps are off. Cancel printing. ( 5 tank lights off 1 light on solid - should all be blinking) This situation has occurred by my refilling the original ink tanks with quality ink designed for my brand and model of printer. Had disabled ink level indicator as requested by drivers. Have only refilled 3 times on 1 tank and once on other 5 tanks. The problem is the drivers and chips on the canon tanks. Does any one know a way around the drivers and chips to stop these error messages? I spoke to canon support and they say error messages nothing to do with drivers or chips (yeah right). machine faulty but grey area as to canon repairing under warranty. How do ya like that eh????? Their advice - buy our ink! Get U150 error message reporting ink tank cannot be recognized. Tank is essentially full and have used nothing but Canon OEM ink tanks. Removing and reinserting the tank has allowed me to print on 2 out of 10 trys. I intend to replace the tank and complain to Cannon. Canon PIXMA MP610 All-In-One InkJet Printer

I also have the same problem for the Magenta. "The following ink tank can not be recognized." When I open the top to check if the red light is on, it is not. But, if I take the cartridge out and insert again the red light comes back. I then close the top and the error message comes back. The printer is new, hardly used.

I have a Canon MP600 and am having the same
"Ink tank errors have occured" .. almost always on the yellow

Yes I have same problem. Sometimes it says your black ink tank 5pgbk is not recognised and other times it tells me I have two black ink tanks, which suprise suprise!!! is correct! but it willnot print. Canon told me to replace the print head, I did at the cost of £40 even though the printer, a pixma mp800 was under a year old, canon would not replace it for me. Even after all that I still get the same messages. I replaced the tanks with three new canon tanks but it make no difference. I find their support very poor. jbl.

Getting the u150 error message too....

Hi ...

Error U150 normally comes in due to the ink tank ... Follow the below steps and I am sure you will be able to resolve this problem ...

I'll also tell you how you can find out what the problem is just by looking at the flashing ligh ...

Replacing An Ink Tank Use the following procedure to replace empty ink tanks or when an ink tank error appears.
  1. Confirm that the printer is powered on and press the <Open> button. (The paper output tray will open.)

  2. Lift the scanning unit (printer cover) completely. (The print head will move to the replacement position.)

NOTE: When the scanning unit (printer cover) is opened more than ten minutes, the print head moves to the right side. If this occurs, close the scanning unit (printer cover), and open it again.

  3. Open the inner cover.

  4. Press the ink tank's tab (1), then remove it from the slot (2).

  5. Unpack the ink tank and pull the orange tape off completely in the direction of the arrow and remove the film.

Note: Tear the orange tape carefully along the dotted line. If the orange tape remains, printing problems may occur.

    <4> Tape is completely removed.

<5> Tape remains. Remove the orange protective cap located on the bottom of the ink tank by twisting as shown in the diagram.

Caution: Do not touch the ink tank contact <6>. Doing so may cause printing problems. Do not squeeze the side of ink tanks as this may cause the ink to leak out. Do not reattach the protective cap once you have removed it.

  6. Insert ink tanks into the print head.

Note: Press the mark <PUSH> on the ink tank firmly until you hear a click.

  7. Ensure that all the ink tanks are installed properly and the ink tank lamps light red.

<7> The ink tanks are installed properly.

<8> The ink tanks are not installed properly.

Note: Click for Ink Tank Lamp indications.

  8. Close the inner cover and the scanning unit (printer cover).

Caution: When closing the scanning unit (printer cover), be careful not to jam fingers.

ote: The next printing begins, the print head cleaning will begin automatically.

Ink Tank Lamp indications
You can check the status of each ink tank according to the way its lamp flashes.
  • On: The printer is ready to print.
  • Slow flashing (at about three second interval): Ink is low. Prepare a new ink tank.
  • Fast flashing (at about one second interval): Ink tank is empty, or the printer is not ready due to an error.
  • Off: An error has occurred and the printer is not ready to print.
Please vote if this helps ... Cheers :)

U150 error message

There was plenty of ink left in my Cyan tank but just replacing it with a new Canon CLI-8C one, as suggested by techguru005, did the job. I suppose that the chip must have been faulty?
Let's see how long this one lasts!
Thanks, techguru005, it's fixed for now.

How do I resolve Error U150 on Canon MP810?

have had a MP810 about 3 months. Recently I've been getting a U150 error message. My C tank is not lighting up and being recognised. When I open up and replace the tank the light comes on. Initially this allowed me to carry on printing but now I have a constant error message even after replacing the tank.
Is there a permanent solution to this annoying problem?
I would be grateful for any assistance.

Error code: U150 The following ink tank cannon be recognized (Cyan)

U150 ink error fixed!

I too was getting the error for unrecognized ink cartridge. Then the little green circ board fell out of the end of the ink cartridge and it hit me that maybe if I put in the little green circ board from the old ink cartridge of the same color, then maybe the ink cartridge would be recognized. It worked! So don't throw out an ink cartridge that still has ink just because of that error and hold onto your empty cartridges in case you need the little green/gold circ boards.

This works!
