Question about DVD & Blu-Ray Players

1 Answer

I bought a Cyberhome 2500 DVD recorder/player about 2 to 3 years ago on HSN. It was packed away and never opened. I opened it last week, and used the Cyberhome dvd-rw disks that came with it, and it recorded, accordingly. So I purchased some more re-recordable disks; but it keeps reading out:NO DISK, with every disk, of different brands that I put in it. Now; I hear what a piece of s--t, it is that I bought. Someone told me about firmware that can be downloaded, but to make matters worse; I find out that Cyberhome is ot of business. I am electronically, and computer illiterate. Please tell me that there is some way that I can use it, or a brand of disks that it might accept as it's own. I can't afford trial and error. And I am at my wits end. My email address is:arigato.2@netscape.com. Thank you very much. Gloria M.

The optical laser pickup is fu.k.d up.  You might as well throw away this cheap piece of sh.t and buy you a Sony or Pioneer.  There is a reason why name brand costs a little more- they invest in R&D and product quality testing.
If your handy you can open this puppy up and install a new optical lens, but why bother when you can just go out to the store and pick up a decent DVD player at a reasonable price.

Cyberhome Mini DVD player not playing

Mine too. been getting bad for several weeks now. The gear on the motor that runs the laser carriage has probably split (I know mine has) so when the split section,(which now has more space between 2 of it's teeth than it can tolerate) comes around to the other gear, it jams up and that is likely the reason you have a flashing green light. The laser can't track correctly, if it can move at all. I hate to throw away the player for a 10 cent part, but have had NO LUCK finding the tiny gear as yet. I'm gonna open some internal dvd players that someone threw away with the rest of their computer and see if that works. Bet a lot of these will be heading for the landfill soon, as more gears give up the ghost.

Cyberhome dvd player

ok if you already have it fixed great but if not here is a solution if the other ones that were told didnt work... My sister had the same dvd player it wouldnt load any of the dvds. so she gave it to me. If you dont want to risk what im going to tell you than well u can pay 200 dollars or somthing to get it fixed. Take the top part of the dvd player off. you then take the little disk cover that holds the disk on the player off. if you can push the laser as close as you can to the thing that spins the disk. now if that doesnt work clean the lens by taking prokide or rubbing alchol with a q tip and just rub the lens lightly. it should clean that off. put everything back together and then try it. if it still doesnt work the mother board in it could be fried. if that is the case than well u can get it fixed for no telling how much. if you dont wont to pay anything than throw it away. Hope this helps!

Cyber home dvr 1600 problem

Hi. I have one of these units with the same problem

Mine will play audio CD's OK but DVDs are troublesome. I asked around on various forums and it appears that the DVD laser in the unit has failed or is on it's way out. (There are usually 2 lasers: one for reading normal CD's and one for DVDs).

I have noticed that my unit gets quite hot when in use and has very poor ventilation. Unfortunately any build up of heat can cause the laser diodes to malfunction and eventually fail and I think that's what has happened with mine.

If you still have a guarantee on your unit you could try and get it repaired otherwise it will be an expensive job and it may be cheaper to get a new unit.

Hope this helps

The dvd not having anything on it defintley sounds like it is hooked up wrong but I want to tell you that they have many lawsuits against Cyberhome because there equipment is very faulty. The FBI even seized a lot of their equipment. It could be that your product is finally crapping out like many of ours. So, don't feel bad if you get to the point where you are certain all the cables are plugged in correctly for it may not be you but the acual player itself.
