I would think that means you have some minor virus. Also I think the URL facebook is giving you would tell you as much.
Just a guess.
I can only suggest you google your situation for a solution. Maybe try scan your computer
try clicking on tools at the top of your browser look at add ons click on that and look for plug-ins.disable or remove them and try again to access facebook. If no luck download mozilla firefox at firefox.com when it ask you if you want to export settings from the internet explorer say no.you can always add them later if necessary.
If you're using Internet Explorer, then that is a pretty good reason as to why.
Due to the structure of Internet Explorer, and it's BHO's "Browser helper objects" people can do pretty much anything they want on your computer through that crappy website viewer.
My suggestion, go download Mozilla Firefox, and use it ONLY for the things you know are secure (banking, etc.) or User Google Chrome. I think Chrome's faster, but do still use Mozilla.
As for how it happened, you probably downloaded a program that was made by some BS company or person who attached a resource to the program so that they could spam people. Even then, it might be something for spamming purposes, but an advertisement agent that was legit, and installed with a legit program. You never really know till you know everything, and that will never happen :)
