Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

Hey there, I have an Acer 5570Z that was running MS Vista from new. Well like many others i know i also am not happy with it. So i removed the HD, Removed any recoverable files etc. I then formated the HD to prepare it for a reload with MS xp pro. I loaded the xp CD in preparation to boot from it, I have tried several approaches & still have had no luck. The CD ROM makes a few noises, you can hear the fan start accordingly, the screen remains black & nothing happens. Have you any direction to rectify this problem. Regards, Grant

Hi,

are you familiar with the hard / cd rom drive dip switch jumpers? sometimes you have to change those around a few times for windows to submit, theyre the tiny black little pieces of plastic things next to the ribbon cable or power cables on the back of the drives, they pull straight out with needle nose or tweezers. if you look on the drives you will see a diagram for them, the hard drive usually is master , cd drives slaves, and cable select mode I think that setting means that you can then change the drive config via bios, but not 100% sure. Maybe try plugging two hard drives in and one master one slave, like that to unravel your problem. also Im hearing in order to go back to xp you have to do it microsofts way exactly via internet or something.
good luck!

Have you tried loading into the BIOS screen, there it will tell you if the computer can 'see' the drive. the key for BIOS should be 'del' or 'f2' normally it will say on the screen when you first switch on.

In the BIOS you will be able to set the HDD options to manually override the auto detection which may be whats causing the computer to stop loading,

Also if your computer is old, it may not 'see' the drive untill you update the BIOS from the Motherboard manufacturer.

Hope this helps

I need the disk to download th acer lcd toch screen to my new computer

You can download the drivers for the Touchscreen Monitor directly from the Acer website: Acer Support
Select "Monitor" from the Product Family list and select the correct series and model number which should be on the back of the monitor.
After you download the correct driver file, right mouse click on the file and "Extract" the contents. Then you can run the installation setup. Follow the prompts and reboot if needed.

I can't use my Acer laptop touchpad an more.

If you are using vista than
Use a usb mouse to do this.

  1. Right click 'my computer'
  2. select ' device manager'
  3. locate you touchpad and select it and right click and choose 'update driver software'.

If you are using xp than follow steps 1 and 2 and the third step is 'unistall' than click scan for new hardware. XP should see the touchpad and update the drivers for it.

How do i change my acer aspire one netbook from running linus o/s to running ms vista (ultimate)? thanking you in anticipation, james :)

You can contact ACER and order an Upgrade/Restore disc at global.acer .com
They will ship you (For a fee) a DVD that will install the Operating system for you.

Another option (Though I'm not sure of the legality of it since you have an opensource OS and NOT a liscensed one) [Use at your OWN risk]

If you know someone else who has an ACER with Vista installed, you can use their machine to create a restore disc for yourself.

Hope this helps

hello

If you had tried restoring the system but will not help. I am sure that there so many application programs run in your system tray. maybe you can do uninstalling the not important application and then scan your system with antivirus. http://www.precisesecurity.com/antivirus/online-scan.htm

but if all this cannot help the system. i recommend to reformat and then reinstall the system. may this help.

please do not rate me if this not solve the problem. i will give you more solution just notify. melnavz

Asprie 5570Z wifi drivers

That laptop came with 3 different internal WiFi cards.

You can look on the bottom of the unit, and it "should" have a sticker / label telling you which one is installed.

Once you have figured out which card you have, you can get the drivers for the card here, under " Drivers and utilities - MS Windows XP". the wireless drivers are at the bottom of the list from the dropdown box:
