I have the same problem but the machine won't run the spin or drain, it sits and just goes back to the error after a few minutes. I need a new solution!@

  • sandyshoward Nov 10, 2008

I opened the little round door, opened the black drain cap and drained out the water, but now there is a white cap that is in the way. How do I get this off?

  • Sherrie Sehrt Nov 26, 2012

I did all this, found a few hair pins, put it all back together. Now the washer cycles electronically, but wont drain, spin or anything. Just makes a humming sound! At least I was able to get my beautiful thanksgiving tablecloth OUT of the washer but its ruined having sat in there so long the colors ran!!!!!!! I hate this washer

Bosch E04 Solution:

  1. Get some towels and if possible a wet/dry vac. If the machine drained, it won't be too bad. If your machine is stuck full of water, I can't say! I'd guess you could get wet.
  2. Locate the round door on the front of the machine (about 6" in diameter, lower right corner)
  3. Find a drill bit or small screwdriver that fits in the hole in the round door.
  4. Insert the bit into the hole in the door. It will push in a tab, it doesn't take much force. Rotate the hole (clockwise) to 6'oclock and it should come free.
  5. Once the door out of the way you'll be greeted by a 3-4" plastic cap with wings so you can unscrew it by hands. There is a small collector lip at the bottom of the cap, that is where I held my wet/dry vac to catch the water. Unscrew slowly so you don't get flooded. Take your time and keep unscrewing it until it is free.
  6. Pull out the trap that you just unscrewed and you'll most likely see the item that caused the E04 error code. I found one of my two year old's socks. There is an side of the trap that is marked that it needs to be installed facing downward, so watch for that when you put it back in.
  7. Read these directiosn upside down and backwards to put it all back together.
  8. Run a load and watch for leaks. You could leave the door off until you are sure you screwed the cap in tight enough.

Okay, the solution is easy, I used the answer from a sears washer with the same problem. UNPLUG the washer. The little round door on the front comes off by taking a small instrument and pushing the hole, I used a small allen wrench and pushing in on the hole while at the same time twisting the cover, it pops right off. Inside there is a cap about 4 inches across that you rotate counterclockwise while running a wet vac with a crevice tool next to the pipe. Don't take it all the way off as the water will go everywhere. Let the water out gradually while using the vac to ensure it doesn't fill the bottom of the washer. Once the trickle eases you can remove the cap entirely and pull it out. Reach in with your fingers and you can fell the impeller which will probably have something laying around it. Mine was 6 hairpins from my daughters and a guitar pick from the same. Screw the cap back on tight and then put the cover on. Plug the machine in and cycle it to spin. Push the button, in about 20 seconds it should start spinning. While the problem was small and easy to fix I found the lack of good information provided in the manual to fix it yourself extremely poor.

Supposedly the fix for this is to turn off the washer and then re-run the 'spin' or the 'drain' cycle. good luck.

What does the E04 error code mean?

E04 means that you are not draining quick enough, if you are using HE detergant then your drain line is probably clogged. There is a round access panel on the lower right corner of your washer. If you stick a small screwdriver through the tiny little hole on this panel and twist the panel off you will see the drain pump catch. You can twist this cap off by hand and remove all the debris inside. WATCH OUT a lot of water will be coming through.

We get the error code eo4 on our Bosch front loader, and it does not spin.

Hi, "E04" means the "suds or pump is blocked"

Bosch E04 Solution:

  1. Get some towels and if possible a wet/dry vac. If the machine drained, it won't be too bad. If your machine is stuck full of water, I can't say! I'd guess you could get wet.
  2. Locate the round door on the front of the machine (about 6" in diameter, lower right corner)
  3. Find a drill bit or small screwdriver that fits in the hole in the round door.
  4. Insert the bit into the hole in the door. It will push in a tab, it doesn't take much force. Rotate the hole to 6'oclock and it should come free.

There is an side of the trap that is marked that it needs to be installed facing downward, so watch for that when you put it back in.
  7. Read these direction upside down and backwards to put it all back together.
  8. Run a load and watch for leaks. You could leave the door off until you are sure you screwed the cap in tight enough.

My bosch nexxt wont drain and flashes e04 checked imoeller and cant find any clogs impeller spins freeley

The 03 error code is the drain. Disconnect the drain hoses and check for blockages. If no blockage "time" the drain interval. If it's more than 6 minutes it's the pump. Also make sure you're using the correct type of soap so the ball check valve on the bottom of the outer drum isn't getting fouled with excessive suds. Also disconnect the drain hose from your house plumbing and let it free flow on it's own. This will tell you if the block is in your plumbing, and not in the machine. Assuming that your filter is clean.

Error code E04 with a full load of laundry and water in the washer. Unplug the power to the washer. Take off the round cover plate in the front right. Mine did not turn clockwise or counter-clockwise, it was completely stuck. Used two flat tip screwdrivers to carefully pry it away, without damaging anything. The plate is a hard plastic but just pliable enough.
Once removed, you will see the pump (img_0001). Unscrew the pump cover slowly. There will be water coming out, so be prepared. In my case we had a LOT of water, so I drained it gradually into a couple of large garbage bags. Wrap the bag opening tightly against the pump surround to minimize spills (img_0002).
Once all the water is gone, remove the pump cover and clean out any items trapped in the pump and in the drain from the drum (img_0003). In my case it was some loose change and a small ColorCatcher sheet. Reassemble the pump and you're done.

Perhaps try opening the round panel on the front of the machine at the bottom and cleaning that hose...good luck because it might be messy.
