Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Web Browsing I curious as to why I cannot browse certain websites. I recently bought a HP Pavillion dv6885se and downloaded all the Vista updates. At the end of all the downloads I noticed a device not working symbol on the Microsoft 6to4 driver. I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver as per Microsoft Tech. Since downloading the updates I have note been able to browse certain sites such as Yahoo, Google, Gamespot and various other sites or download up-dates from HP. I can connect to HP but, I cannot browse and download any driver updates. The web page gets hung up and times out. Please advise.

Stopping browsing history

Step 1:
Stop Web History on Internet Explorer b> Every time you visit a website, the web address, date and time of your visit is recorded in your Web browser history. The length of time this information is saved varies depending on what browser is used. If privacy is a concern, popular browsers such as Firefox and Internet Explorer offer enhanced privacy features that allow you to prevent your browser history from being stored.

Update your Web browser to the latest version of the product. Browser updates often include important security patches. Automatically clear your browser history each time you exit. In Firefox, this option is located under "Tools" and "Options." Select the "Privacy" tab and check the box marked "Always clear my private data when I close Firefox." If you're using Internet Explorer, click on "Tools" and "Internet Options" and check "Delete browsing history on exit." Use private browsing if your browser supports it. Private browsing prevents your browser from storing any information about your browsing history, including cookies, temporary Internet files and history. Pressing CTRL+Shift+P on your keyboard will activate private browsing mode in both Firefox and Internet Explorer. It can also be accessed in Firefox by clicking "Tools" and selecting "Start Private Browsing," and in Internet Explorer by clicking "Safety" and selecting "InPrivate Browsing." Private browsing must be activated each time you open your browser.

I haven't updated my drivers in years and I know some of them are out of date. Where can I find free downloads for my HP Pavillion a1013w?

You need to download the drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP or Vista Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Use this link to download the drivers: -

No audio device installed.

It's unlikly that HP will relesae he needed Vista drivers for your sound device.
That has been a problem with Vista since day 1.
If you want your sound back, you should go back to XP.
Windows Vista use a new software architecture, and hardware devices must comply with it, in order to be used by the new OS.
Sorry

Windows XP

It should have come with the 32. For dual boot on this machine, go in and set up XP on the same partition as Vista. When the machine starts up it will go to a screen that allows you to choose which op system you want. You shouldn't, but if you run into conflicts you will need to create a separate partition for the two op systems.
