I made the mistake of trying to change a bulb without unplugging and did not trip a breaker but seemed to have caused a short. Now I have no power. is it salvgable?

Some have a fuse that unscrews at the rear. Some have an internal fuse. They don't have reset buttons. It is probably repairable. Did the glass capsule come off the bulb base? That is the only scenario that would cause a short circuit and pop a fuse.

Light bulbs went out, changed light bulbs, lights wont come on now. Is there a reset button?

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This can often also affect the exhaust fan, cooling fan, turntable, and/or inside light operation, too.

Details of our service are at our Web site, along with a video showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Feel free to contact me directly with your brand, full model number and symptoms.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

MVH240W making poping electrical noise. 10 year

Quite often this is due to grease or food particles stuck to the inside of the oven or stuck on or behind the waveguide cover.

The waveguide cover is usually about the size of a playing card and often held in place by a plastic rivet.

Sometimes it is in the ceiling of the oven.

It can be fragile, and the metal edges of the oven behind it can be sharp, so be careful!

The cover and the metal behind it should be cleaned with a mild, non-ammonia cleaner.

If the cavity metal of the oven is chipped or charred, it will have to be sanded smooth and clean.

Then you can apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart or Lowe's.

If your waveguide cover is burned, it will need to be replaced.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

If it's not a waveguide problem, it may be a bad high voltage diode or loose high voltage wire inside.

FixYa's Web site is currently not notifying us when replies to our Clarification Requests are posted, so please reply directly to me with your full number from the tag on the unit and your oven's color so I can help you with free do-it-yourself tips or an estimate.

Microwave PLMVZ169 GCB night light push button does not work. Replace the light bulb. Push button still does not work. The work light does when I push the night light it stays on. Just wondering how to...

Q - While trying to change the light bulb on the oven, the bulb broke. When it did, it threw the circuit breaker and the whole oven went out. After resetting the breaker, everything on the oven works except there is no power to either light socket. Any ideas or suggestions on what to replace?
A - You tried to change the light bulbs with the power still on.....tsk tsk!!
Hate to say this....but probably blew out part of the circuit on the smart board ( the brains behind the key panel you touch ) when the short blew. The light relay on the smart board may have been damaged but 9 out of 10 times when I check them, the board itself is damaged.
check out this problem.
please do rate the solution.thank you for using fixya.keep updated.thanks,
