Be sure that you plug the cable into the correct input. Not all HDMI inputs are the same. Check your manual. My TV requires HDMI1 for dmi.

Can i turn this tv as a pc monitor by HDMI cable?

Hi, generally it is possible to connect a TV as a PC monitor by HDMI, VGA or Display port cable. But it depends on the TV (resolution, etc.) and PC graphic card settings (change to find optimal) what quality picture on the TV is.

Element tv wont see laptop

Connecting laptop VGA port to HDMI port on a TV
VGA to HDMI converter is required to connect a laptop to a TV with HDMI input. The VGA signal does not have an audio component. You need to connect an audio cable from the audio/headphone port on your laptop to the audio connector on your TV. There are HDMI converters with Audio input so you do not need to connect an audio cable to the TV. The audio is connected to the HDMI converter and then passes the audio with the video data to the HDMI cable to HDMI port on the TV. Check out these WEB site for these HDMI converters. http://www.aten.com/products/productItem.php?model_no=vc180 http://www.sybausa.com/productInfo.php?iid=1174 http://www.topbuy.com.au/tbcart/pc/Audio-VGA-to-HDMI-Video-Converter-Box-HD-HDTV1080P-p164633.htm

How to connect sony ps3 to toshiba 32av500a

Use any HDMI cable to to this.

Connect cable to the "HDMI" port on the back of the PS3. Connect the other side of the HDMI cable to the "HDMI" port on the Toshiba TV. If the Toshiba TV has multiple HDMI ports, make note of which port you plugged the HDMI cable into.
Change the Toshiba TV to its "HDMI" video display mode. Press the "Power" button on the PS3 to turn the console on. The PS3 will automatically detect the HDMI cable. Select "Yes" to use the audio and video from the HDMI cable. Select "Yes" to have the PS3 automatically use the optimal settings for the Toshiba TV. Select "Yes" to accept the recommended resolution. Press the "X" button to save the settings

I can't get a signal between my Sony Blu-Ray Disc/DVD Player and Samsung HDTV monitor. They are connected via a HDMI cable. A brief message on the HDTV reads "Not supported".

First, try to reset resolution of HDMI Sony BD output.
Unplug HDMI cable from TV and change to Component connection to reset BD output resolution.
Than after you entered to resolution menu, choose to standart resolution 720 or 480 i.
If above methode working, try to reconect HDMI cable again to HD TV.
If any problem with picture or still "Not Supported" messege appear, i suggest to change HDMI cable first.
i hope its work.

Cant get the tv to go from 720 to 1080

Changing the resolution of 720 to 1080 is dependent of the input television. Make sure the HDMI cable connection or a PC cable connected properly.
If you uses a PC input, you should set the resolution with 720 to 1024 first. then set to higher resolution. If there is a problem when doing settings dark picture or not support, it means that the TV does not support the resolution.
Perform way above the HDMI connection too.
Hope this helped solve your problem.

When i turn on my ps3 i get a black screen and nothing else

Hi Kroboken,
I suggest you check the connection cords first before doing anything drastic. Oftentimes it may appear to be plugged-in tightly but you may still need to wiggle it a bit to make the connectors seat properly. If you have been previously using an HDMI TV with this console and now trying to hook it up to a regular composite connection TV - or vice versa, you may need to reset your Video settings. You do this by holding the power button for at least 6 seconds (the unit should be turned-off when you do this). You should hear the two beeps. After doing this reset, you will now be able to choose the correct settings for your console. Go to your settings and select the correct resolution. 720p is the default resolution that works for most most standard definition TV's. You also need to make sure that your settings match the type of cable connectors that you are using. You are gonna have problems if your console thinks that you are using an HDMI/ DMI cable but in actuality you are using a standard AV cord- and vice versa. I hope this fixes the problem. All the best to you.

I AM FROM INDIA I RECENTLY PURCHASED AN AIRTEL DTH HD VERSION, SINCE I HAVE A SAMSUNG LCD MONITOR (SYNCMASTER 2233sw) WHICH SUPPORTS FULL HD (1920X1080). MY MONITOR RUNS FULL HD WITH DVI CABLES OF...

Hi gurmeet,

What I suspected from your description of problem is that there is some kind of compatibility issue or content protection when you plug in an additional HDMI to DVI converter.

I am also using an Airtel HD connection, though however, I wouldn't need any kind of converter because I am directly connecting HDMI cable to my LCD and it works like a wonder. I set up my box output resolution to 1080i and there is no display resolution mismatch. Not even at other resolutions.

Airtel is using 1920x1080 resolution in signal transmission, so the possibility of 1079 from there end is ruled out, otherwise, the same problem would have been observed when direct HDMI cable is being used. I hope you understand my point.

Now you might also ask why you weren't able to see this problem when you connect the monitor to your PC graphics card. I would like to tell you that graphic cards are very versatile and does have the capability of 1:1 pixel mapping, so there you wouldn't see any such problem.

read this link for more http://www.hdtvsupply.com/hdtodvico.html , where a person is able to match resolution using a similar converter.

I believe the converter you use isn't able to do 1:1 pixel mapping and is actually downgrading the resolution which your monitor is not able to support.

You can try out other resolution type from the STB and if you still see similar problems, then you may need to get an alternative converter.
Follow these steps to change the STB resolution type;
Enter the Menu from STB remote -> scroll to 'My Settings' -> Enter 'System Setup' -> 'HD Setup'. Here you change to a lower resolution and press ok from remote.

I have a Samsung Series 6-650 LCD TV (Model # LN46A650A1F). I am trying to connect my Laptop to use the TV as a monitor and have done everything to make it work, using a VGA/HDMI cable, but the TV refuses...

Why do you use VGA-HDMI cable? This TV works fine with VGA cable - it has VGA plug.
Or if your notebook has DVI output, then you can use DVI/HDMI cable and connect it to the TV to plug named DVI/HDMI (only one HDMI input is marked as DVI on TV).
I suppose that over HDMI the TV supports only some standard resolutions, but over VGA it supports almost every resolution laptops use. You can find supported resolutions for each input in the TV manual. Try setting the same resolution on the laptop.

I'm trying to use my bravia as a computer monitor.

Your Bravia should have a 15 pin PC input, this input can take most standard PC resolutions, however if you a have a video card with an HDMI port, you should set your resolution to 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz refresh rate so that the signal can be recognized and processed, many standard PC video resolutions are not compatible with the HDMI inputs. You should not require audio cables unless you are using a DVI to HDMI connection.

Not able to get picture when connected to PC via HDMI

bbutler,
Your Toshiba can handle PC screen resolution up to 1024 x 768
Lower the resolution of the PC screen to somewhere between "640 x 480" and "1024 x 768". It will work just fine.
It's not likely that there is a any physical problem with either the PC or HDTV.
1. Right-click anywhere on your desktop
2. [Properties]
3. [Settings] tab
4. Slide the "Screen Resolution" pointer to the LEFT to adjust and click on [OK]
*DONE*
