Hi gurmeet,
What I suspected from your description of problem is that there is some kind of compatibility issue or content protection when you plug in an additional HDMI to DVI converter.
I am also using an Airtel HD connection, though however, I wouldn't need any kind of converter because I am directly connecting HDMI cable to my LCD and it works like a wonder. I set up my box output resolution to 1080i and there is no display resolution mismatch. Not even at other resolutions.
Airtel is using 1920x1080 resolution in signal transmission, so the possibility of 1079 from there end is ruled out, otherwise, the same problem would have been observed when direct HDMI cable is being used. I hope you understand my point.
Now you might also ask why you weren't able to see this problem when you connect the monitor to your PC graphics card. I would like to tell you that graphic cards are very versatile and does have the capability of 1:1 pixel mapping, so there you wouldn't see any such problem.

http://www.hdtvsupply.com/hdtodvico.html , where a person is able to match resolution using a similar converter.
I believe the converter you use isn't able to do 1:1 pixel mapping and is actually downgrading the resolution which your monitor is not able to support.
You can try out other resolution type from the STB and if you still see similar problems, then you may need to get an alternative converter.
Follow these steps to change the STB resolution type;
Enter the Menu from STB remote -> scroll to 'My Settings' -> Enter 'System Setup' -> 'HD Setup'. Here you change to a lower resolution and press ok from remote.
