Question about Whirlpool Duet 7.0 Cu. Ft. Super Capacity Plus Gas Dryer

Whirlpool Imperial Electric Dryer won't start

I have a Whirlpool Imperial electric dryer which has functioned perfectly for over 10 years.  It runs off of 220VAC and the other day it was working just fine.  We had a thunderstorm come through and lost power for about 5 hours and then it was restored.  The dryer was not in use at the time of the storm.  Yesterday, I went to dry some shirts and when I mashed the "start" button, it will not start.  FYI, the light in the drum illuminates so it is getting power.  I tried opening and closing the door in case the contacts on the safety were dirty.  Also, the timer switch will "tick" and rotate normally on its on through the cycles.  When I press the "start" button, there is no sound of the motor running or attempting to run.  Any ideas?

I have the same problem with my Whirlpool Imperial Electric Dryer #LER8858EZ0. (Just happened) The start button doesn't give the slight click that it used to when pressed and the dryer doesn't start. In my case, it might be that the Relay, push to start, Part Number: AP2947429 made by WHIRLPOOL might have gone bad. Look up the model number on the inside of your dryer and you can go to http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partse... to try and find the drawings and parts list for your dryer.

I have a imperial whirlpool dryer. I thought it was electric, it has gas hook up and a electric plug as well , can it be bothZ?

Yes, it will be both. A straight electrical dryer is hooked up to 220 volts of electricity and uses that voltage to run both the motor and the heater. In a gas dryer, you only need 120 volts to run the motor and run the igniter for the gas, which provides the heat to dry your clothes. Hope this helps!

Whirlpool electric dryer LER5620KQ1. won't heat up timer does not advance

Same problem with my Whirlpool Dryer: Model LER4634EZ2 which stopped heating. I checked the coils that was "OK" then I checked the fuse that was "OK" I replaced the Thermal Fuse and High Limit Thermostat then after starting the dryer the heat came on ... problem solved NO.... the dryer just kept running and running until I opened the dryer door. Not going to put 70 or so $$$ into this 10 year old dryer which up until 12/15/2011 worked fine.

My Whirlpool Dryer GEW9868KQS has power, but won't start when the button is depressed. The sensing light comes on, but the dryer doesn't start. Any ideas?

It's probably either the start switch or door switch. Try bypassing the switch and see if it starts. If it does, you can either replace the switch or try taking it apart and fixing the switch yourself. (I had a switch that simply required a copper contact to be readjusted and its worked perfectly for several years)

I press the start button on my whirlpool duet dryer and it beeps, but doesn't start

This is a common issue caused by a blown thermal fuse located on the blower housing and wired in series with the motor. Power to the motor is then cut and therefore cannot run. No dryer function works when the motor cannot run. Click on the link below for the complete details of the troubleshooting and repair procedure.

Dryer will not start when pushing start button it just clicks once

This sounds like a problem with the thermal fuse blown which is wired in series with the motor. Power to the motor is terminated when the thermal fuse blows and the motor cannot run. No dryer function works when the motor cannot run. Click on the link below for the detailed instructions in troubleshooting this kind of Whirlpool Duet or Kenmore Elite dryer problem.
