I am using Lenovo 3000 y410 laptop that has the slot-in optical drive. I hv prob of ejecting the disc out from the drive. What shoud I do?

I remember my old laptop that has tray type optical drive, beside the eject button there is a small pin to eject the dvd.

Can anybody tell me how to solve the prob?

I kept press eject button until it was sucessfully (oh finally) ejected from the optical drive.

Actually the slot-in optical drive cannot read disc that has another layer of paper/ sticker that is pasted on the disc. I tried with disc without any layer and it was fine.

From memory its a bugger of a mission ,
Easier to take to a Service Technican unless you are able to do this type of repair,
It will require a lot of paiteince and skill to strip down and reassemble this just to get to the disk.

Give it to the PROS only if you want it to work again,

Sorry but thats the truth,

Hope this helps ,Please rate me thanks

I have purchase lenovo Y410 but DVD drive not working since 8 days . Kindly suggest how to resovle this issue Thanks Dinesh

I would 'slap' Windows around, and make it reinstall the drivers for the DVD optical drive.

Vista:

[Note* All clicks are Left-click unless otherwise noted]

1) Click on Start (Windows logo button)

2) Click on Control Panel

3) Click on Device Manager

4) After Device Manager loads all the way, click on the + sign to the left of -
DVD/CD-ROM drives

5) Right-click on the name of the DVD optical drive

6) Click on Uninstall

Windows will come up with a 'squawk box',
"Warning you are about to uninstall this device"

It's okay, click on OK.

Now close all windows, and go back to the desktop screen.
Restart the computer.

When Windows has fully loaded you should get a pop-up out of the system tray,
"Found new hardware device", and perhaps another one will follow,
"Found XXXX optical drive"
(XXXX being the name of the optical drive)

If this doesn't work try cleaning the laser optical eye of the DVD optical drive.

Laptop on open the DVD optical drive tray.
Turn the laptop off.
Remove ALL power to the laptop.
(AC adapter {Charger} and Battery)
Use a can of compressed air for computers.

Or use a disk cleaning device for cleaning CD/DVD optical drives. (Power plugged into the laptop)

For additional questions please post in a Comment.

We have a Polaroid 15 inch LCD television with a built-in dvd player. It also allows for jumpdrive connection. I must be missing something but we cannot figure out how to play a dvd. I put a dvd...

Do you have the Polaroid 1513-TDXB? I assume you have tried the eject button on the side of the TV (the lowest button next to the DVD slot). There are a few things that can cause a DVD to jam and not be recognized by the drive: put in the disc label side to the back of the TV, home disc with a glued on label (if the label comes loose), two discs in the slot or non-standard optical discs.

Some slot optical drives have a manual eject hole on one side of the slot; it should be near the top of the slot on this unit. Straighten a paperclip and try pushing on the release mechanism inside that hole. (A small paperclip is the correct size.) Sometimes pushing the optical disc with a second optical disc will bump it loose (be careful you do not want the disc to be dragged into the drive). Another possible solution is to pry the disc up off the spindle with a credit card. (Note: trying this could damage the disc and the drive.) A similar card with double sided sticky tape can sometimes lift the disc off the spindle. Stick the tape on the card, then peel the paper off the other side of the tape. Insert the card to be on the top of the disc (sticky side towards the back of the TV) and press it down on the disc. Lift up slightly and pull the card and optical disc out.

If the disc has partially ejected, two credit cards (one above and one below) can grab it. Turning the TV on its side so that the optical drive is pointing to the ground can also work.

There are a few things to check once you get the disc out. Were there scratches or other problems that would keep the drive from seeing the disc? Other optical drive issues are dirt on the lens and the tracking unit failing on the drive. Blowing the dirt out of the drive may help. Otherwise, it needs to be fixed or replaced which means getting it out of the TV.

The manual for the TV is available at this review site: http://www.hdtvreview.com/Polaroid-1513-TDXB-hdtv.html . The direct link to the manual is http://www.hdtvreview.com/pdf/polaroid-1513-tdxb-manual.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Unable to eject a cd inside the dvd rw drive. help me. i am using lenovo laptop 3000 Y410. tnx

Look on the front of the DVD-RW tray. There should be a tiny hole there. You will need a paperclip. Straighten out the paperclip, and put it in that hole. Be sure you hold it straight and parallel to the table you have your laptop sitting on. Push the paperclip into the hole. You will feel a little resistance, but the paperclip should advance forward. DO NOT force it if it won't go. The tray should manually eject itself, and you will be able to pull it out and take your CD.

You probably have some mechanical issues with the drive itself. Have it looked at before using another disc. If it still reads and write, then you can use the paperclip trick, but this is really only a short term solution.

Good luck.

Dell xps m1330 dvd drive will not eject cd inside

Im a dell tech, and i hate those cdrom styles, but, that is what the consumer wants, so we make them. Try starting the machine, then press F2 to enter the BIOS. once in the bios, press the eject button. listen for any noises, (an attempt to eject). if you hear a sound, it means the drive should be capable of ejecting the disc, and perhaps the disc has not seated correctly. If the disc will not eject, you must contact Dell. This is from the DELL dcse site: " Optical Drive The XPS M1330 has a slot-loading optical drive instead of a conventional tray-loading module. There is no mechanical eject mechanism for the drive to eject stuck discs. This means you must replace the drive if a disc gets stuck in the drive. After replacing the drive, disassemble the old drive to remove the disc for the customer."
