Is this system wifi compatible

Turn on your computer and locate the Wi-Fi icon. This could be located on the upper row on a laptop it will have the radiation look ((())) Make sure its pressed on. Usually a wifi enabled phone, computer, or whatever device, will recognize if there is wifi access near you. Most new HP (Hewlett-Packard) Pavilion notebook computers as of August 2010 include an internal wireless networking adapter, used to connect to a wireless network or router. Once connected to a router, the computer can connect to the Internet or other computers on the same network. If the wireless networking adapter is not allowing the computer to connect to a router, there are several steps that can be used to remedy the problem. Ensure that the wireless network adapter is turned on. Most HP Pavilion notebook computers have a switch that allows you to turn off the wireless adapter. The switch typically is located on the side of the computer or on the front. Ensure that the router and modem are plugged in and functioning. Ensure that the lights are illuminated on each device. Attempt to connect wirelessly using another computer, if possible, to test whether the connection problem is with the router or modem. Unplug the router and modem. Leave the power off for approximately 30 to 60 seconds, then turn them on again. Update the wireless network adapter driver using the computer's "Device Manager." To access the Device Manager, right-click on "Computer" or "My Computer," depending on the version of Windows, and click "Device Manager" from the left-side bar, or from the tab labeled "Hardware." Once in the Device Manager, expand the section labeled "Networking Devices" and right-click on the wireless network adapter. Click "Update driver software" to begin searching for an update. If an update is found, follow the onscreen instructions to install the update. Reinstall the wireless networking adapter if updating the driver does not remedy the problem. To reinstall the wireless adapter driver, right-click on it from the Device Manager and select "Uninstall." Once the device is removed from the computer, restart the computer. Once Windows loads, it will automatically detect and reinstall the driver. Run the Windows 7 Diagnostic Tool (if the computer uses the Windows 7 operating system) to diagnose any networking issues the operating system may be able to correct. To access the Windows 7 Diagnostic Tool, open the "Start" menu and type "Network" into the search field. Click "Network and Sharing Center" and then select "Diagnose and repair" from the left-side bar. The Windows 7 Diagnostic Tool will automatically run and will attempt to repair and establish the wireless connection. Attempt to manually connect to the wireless network. Open the "Network and Sharing Center" and click "Setup a new connection or network." Enter the network name, security type and network key into the text boxes and click "Next." If successful, click "Use the existing network" and then click "Connect." The network name, security type and network key can be obtained from the network administrator or by logging into the router. For help logging into the router, consult the instructions included with the router. Make sure you Ethernet/internet is enabled in bios restart your computer during the boot up process you will see on your screen a certain key to press to enter set up (BIOS) press and hold that key to enter bios using arrow keys navigate to integrated peripherals look for SiS On Chip Pci Device press enter scroll to SiS 10/100m press enter make sure its "Enabled"imake sure key scroll http://support.microsoft.com/

I have a window 2000 professional and some one gave the computer to me because they could not break the code so i ao asking you how can i break the code i hope that you can help me

Assuming you are talking about the user password, there are several ways to solve this issue. The easiest way would be to re-install windows. This will override any passwords and you will be left with a clean "like new" system. If you wish to preserve the files that are on the system, I would recommend this, this is a utility to (re)set the password of any user that has a valid (local) account on your NT system, by modifying the crypted password in the registrys SAM file. You do not need to know the old password to set a new one.

It works offline, that is, you have to shutdown your computer and boot off a floppydisk. The bootdisk includes stuff to access NTFS partitions and scripts to glue the whole thing together. Note: It will now also work with SYSKEY, including the option to turn it off! Go here to download the utility;

Will additional RAM increase the speed of my computer. I have the original 512mb?

Increasing the RAM on your PC will considerablly increase of your system. The RAM is your computers work sheet. Whatever you see on the screen of your computer is first stored on the RAM. If the RAM is small, it gets fill easily with data. Older data on the work sheet not being currenty accessed is move to the temporary area on the hard disk. When this data is needed the older data move to the same temporary area for this data to be displayed. This impacts on the response time of the PC which you see as the system bring slow.
Inceased RAM will increase the work sheet area and reduce the rate data is move to the Temporary area of the Hard disk thereby improving the PC Speed.

More importly if you wand to improve the speed of your system, check the applications you are running against the system requirement of these application. Follow the recommended system configuration for all the application and you system speed will not be impared.

Start Registry Editor. To do this, click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK. Locate and expand the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86View the list of subkeys. There should only be the following subkeys: • Drivers • Print Processors
in the delete any subkeys listed other than drivers and print processors
Locate and then expand the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\MonitorsView the list of subkeys. There should only be the following subkeys for the default print monitors: • BJ Language Monitor • Local Port • PJL Language Monitor • Standard TCP/IP Port • USB Monitor if there are others listed aside from the ones above delete it
then try adding back your lexmark

I have two operating systems on my hard drive.

Hi,

You can manually disconnect the IDE/SATA cable temporarily from your motherboard (the one with NT PRO & XP HOME), then you can cleanly install a Windows XP on your new Hardisk. And after installing, you can re-connect the other hardrive on your computer and format it under your NEW Windows XP, be sure to set the BIOS BOOTUP sequence that you boot on the right drive.

Iam trying to connect my laptop to the innet. i have wrt54g router.

Hi jjroyc

Let's see if we can get your laptop connected to the Internet.

First, I have some questions and a few instructions for you.

(01) Is this a new (to you) router?

(02) Do you already have one or more computers connecting successfully to the Internet using this router?

(03) If yes, are any of them connecting wirelessly?

(04) Have you recently (at another location for example) successfully connected this laptop to the Internet? If so, did you connect it "wired" or "wirelessly".

(05) Are you trying to connect your laptop to your router "wirelessly" or "wired"?

(06) If you are trying to connect the laptop wirelessly, turn off your laptop's wireless radio and connect the laptop to the router "wired" instead (using an "Ethernet Patch Cable"). Once we've established that the laptop is capable of connecting to the Internet via the simpler "wired" connection, then we'll move on to the more complex wireless connection.

(07) Please, go HERE to download the manual for your particular router. You will need to determine the version number of the WRT54G model 1st. There are instructions there that will guide you through this.
